NOW THAT THE ELECTION IS OVER:1) Let's be  praying that God showed us grace in giving us representatives who will sincerely work to DO NO HARM to us and future generations. Let's also be praying that should He have chosen to give us those who WILL do us harm, that He extends mercy to us now and for the years ahead. His will is now done as far as the  results we have. Now it's up to us to be diligent to hold those elected accountable!, and 2) Let's be praying that the present lame-duck session in Congress will not be allowed to pass legislation that will do harm to our country as they can easily do. (See post #1051 - 'Return of the Zombie).

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST: Save Christian Mom Asia Bibi from Execution - A Christian mom has been sentenced to death in Pakistan for her faith. Asia Bibi was falsely accused of “blasphemy” – speaking against the prophet Muhammad. Now this wife and mother of five will hang for her Christian faith. She would be the first woman executed under Pakistan’s Shariah blasphemy law. This is the ultimate human rights violation. We’re mobilizing our international affiliate – the European Centre for Law and Justice – and its partner in Pakistan to stop this atrocity. Add your name to our letter to the government of Pakistan demanding Asia Bibi’s freedom.Go to http://aclj.org/persecuted-church/save-christian-mom-asia-bibi-from-execution; please add your signature to mine and over 35,000 others AND pray for Asia Bibi.

U.S. Supreme Court has Reconvened: Let's be praying WHENEVER the Court is in session as their decisions can have impact on GENERATIONS to come. The fact that they may have an opportunity this session to actually vote on same-sex "marriage" where it has the same impact on this country that Roe v. Wade did should be motivating enough!

"The Campus Crusade for Comfort" - Mike Adams | Oct 01, 2014; http://townhall.com/columnists/mikeadams/2014/10/01/the-campus-crusade-for-comfort-n1899000/page/full [AS I SEE IT: As  someone who heard the gospel through the ministry of  Campus Crusade for Christ over 41 years ago and who also served on their staff for 33 years, I was obviously disturbed to just recently come across the following article. I can only hope that the author's experience is  just limited to a  few individuals within the ministry, but somehow I don't believe that is the case. Also, I too am distressed that there seems to be no vision among campus ministries to equip its students to be able to come alongside fellow students who are in crisis pregnancies and are considering abortion. Finally, please note also the comment afterward left by someone else who was once with the CCC ministry. - Stan

Note: In the following article, I refuse to refer to Campus Crusade for Christ by their new name. I find their removal of the words “Crusade” and “Christ” to be offensive and demeaning (and just incredibly silly).[I share this view. - Stan]

Nearly half of the abortions in this country are performed on college-age women. According to Students for Life of America, 70% of all abortion-providing and abortion-referring facilities are located within five miles of a college campus. Given those staggering numbers, it would seem that campus ministries would be positioning themselves to do something about the problem. But most are doing nothing at all. If you don’t believe me, take the time to go to the Campus Crusade website and do a search for the word “abortion.” See what your search reveals.

So why are campus ministries largely silent on such a profound moral issue? Recently, I had a chance to ask a Campus Crusade director that very question. His response was that Campus Crusade is not “a politically-based organization.” That explanation is inadequate. In fact, it is demonstrably false.

Several years ago, a good friend of mine named Dave Sterrett gave a pro-life speech to a Campus Crusade chapter at a state university in North Texas. He was invited to speak by a student. During the middle of his speech, he was arguing that the unborn are fully human and have souls by quoting from the Gospel of Luke. His talk was clearly Biblical and not political in nature. Nonetheless, when the Campus Crusade director arrived, he rudely shut the speech down.

The Campus Crusade director told Dave to come out in the hall after he shut down his talk. The Crusade leader then began to yell at Dave and told him, "I don't know what your deal is talking about this issue. Get your books and get out of here." He went even further calling the headquarters of Crusade, which then demanded an apology from Sterrett.

Shortly after I wrote about the incident, several members of Campus Crusade contacted me - but not to apologize for their mistreatment of Dave. They emailed to admonish me for writing about the incident – even though I did not call out the university or the chapter director by name. The fallout from the incident was revealing. It shows how far some campus ministries will go to avoid controversy – and that they often consider themselves to be above reproach.

The original incident was also revealing. The censored speech was not political so the problem cannot be that Campus Crusade is not a “politically-based” organization. The speech was morally and Biblically based. Does the rejection of the speech mean that Campus Crusade is not a “morally-based” organization? Or does it mean they are not a “Biblically-based” organization?

Of course it doesn’t. The incident merely shows that Campus Crusade has become a “comfort-based” organization. In other words, an over-riding priority is avoiding topics that might make people feel uncomfortable.

Sadly, Campus Crusade is not the only ministry that is obsessed with the very un-Christ-like goal of avoiding topics that make people feel uncomfortable. Search the major campus ministry websites and see what they have to say about abortion. I guarantee that it won’t take very long to commit to memory all that they don’t have to say.

The saddest part about this is that Christian peers would be the best possible people to help pregnant women work through the abortion decision process. Imagine Campus Crusade students trained, not just to defend life, but also to walk women through the process of getting an ultrasound, talking to a nurse, and really thinking all the options through. As my friend Amber Lehman says, “The simple truth in love for a woman with pregnancy decisional conflict goes a long way for her to make a life decision.”

I was inspired to write this column after a Campus Crusade chapter director urged me to be careful to avoid criticizing other Christians who do not “attack the abortion issue” the same way I do. That is simply arrogant and utterly un-Biblical. What he really means is that he doesn’t like me calling his organization out for their sinful silence on the most profound moral, political, and Biblical issue of our time.

I urge everyone reading this column to criticize all Christians who “attack the abortion issue” by keeping as quiet as they possibly can in the name of enhancing comfort.

If they admonish you for criticizing Christians, introduce them to the letters of the Apostle Paul. He wasn’t afraid of offending his support team.

Cru (or Campus Crusade for Christ... a better name in my opinion), I am ashamed to learn this and go to your website and find it out for myself. As a former student leader and founding leader of the chapter at my college I am upset that you are committing this tragic sin of omission. Yet, you know you are doing it, and so I would classify this as a sin of commission, too. To think that you would even go to the extent of SILENCING someone who is speaking out against such an offensive sin!! I suppose if Jesus were to show up at one of your meetings and speak on the issue that you would silence him, too. I recently had the unfortunate privilege of seeing multiple unborn children whose lives were cut short, yet someone saw fit to preserve the tiny little frames in solution in jars to be brought out for anatomy lessons. I don't know how they ended up in those jars - natural death, accident, or abortion (though I have my suspicions). But, one thing I know and have known and am unashamed to know better than you. That is, ABORTION IS MURDER OF THE WORST TYPE. It rips apart limb by limb little human beings who have committed no crime but to have a mother or father or grandparents who would rather them be dead than to see them alive. And it is no secret that abortionists prey on scared, lonely, emotionally abandoned college girls to murder their children for money. Yet, you remain SILENT on the issue and SILENCE those who would speak. I wonder if slavery were to come back into fashion in the US, would you remain silent? When the actions and laws of men transgressed the character and laws of God, Jesus spoke out. Occasionally, he knocked over tables while wielding a whip. What, I wonder, do you think is the Christian response to the command to "walk in His steps." Up until now I have had nothing but deep appreciation for Campus Crusade and the influence it has been on college campuses, but I must say I am quite disappointed by this revelation. I would much prefer to hear that Campus Crusade (Cru) is standing for righteousness and for those made in the image of God no matter how popular that stand may be or what effect it may have on donor contributions. But, that's not the case. I believe Jesus has these words for you, friends (and I call you friends):

"Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent." - Revelation 2:5

"A Life of Service and Thanksgiving - GIVING BACK" - By: Eric Metaxas|Breakpoint.org: Nov. 27, 2014; http://www.breakpoint.org/bpcommentaries/entry/12/26457?spMailingID=10029493&spUserID=MTMyMjM2ODE5OQS2&spJobID=422283461&spReportId=NDIyMjgzNDYxS0

[As you continue to reflect on the subject of giving thanks], here’s a story that will warm your heart about a man who lives a life of gratitude.

Between 2005 and 2012, Jason Brown lived what many people would consider to be the American dream. He was a starting NFL offensive lineman, first with the Baltimore Ravens and then with the St. Louis Rams.In 2009, he signed a five-year deal with the Rams worth $37.5 million.

Then he did what many would regard as unthinkable: He walked away from another potentially big contract to become . . . a farmer. But not just any kind of farmer. Brown became the kind of farmer who embodies what it means to be thankful. After the Rams released him in 2012, other NFL teams contacted Brown about coming to play for them. He was only 29 years old and could have easily played another two or three years and made millions more.Instead, he told his agent that he was through with football and was ready to pursue his real dream: becoming a farmer. His agent said he was “making the biggest mistake of his life.”  Brown’s reply was “No, I’m not.”

Making the story even more difficult to fathom was that Brown had not grown up on a farm—his father had been a landscaper who took his son with him on jobs. Brown planned on learning how to farm from—are you ready for this?—YouTube and the internet, plus whatever advice other farmers might be willing to give.If this story sounds a bit quixotic—a colleague of mine says that the 1960s sitcom “Green Acres” came to mind when reading about Brown—there was nothing starry-eyed or impractical about Brown’s motivations. As he told the Raleigh News-Observer, “I want to help people.”

When he looks out at his 1,000-acre farm, he sees “youngsters learning how to fish” in its ponds, and fields “dedicated to providing fresh produce to shelters and food pantries.” As any farmer can tell you, things don’t always go according to plan. Thus, “Many of the squash and cucumbers he had planned to give away were not harvested this summer because of heavy rains.” Similarly, “The apple, plum and pear trees need time to mature.”

But earlier this month, he harvested his first crop: five acres of sweet potatoes, fifty tons, which he promptly gave away. As Rebecca Page of the Society of St. Andrew, told a North Carolina television station, “"It's unusual for a grower to grow a crop just to give [it] away.”

You’ve probably guessed what motivates Jason Brown. If you haven’t, here’s a clue: his farm is named “First Fruits.” Brown’s former Rams teammate, All-Pro wide receiver Tory Holt, recalls Brown as “always being very strong in his faith.” According to Holt, Brown “was very encouraging to everyone.”
After his playing days were over, Brown decided that “it was time to start giving back . . . God has blessed us with this place, “ he said, “and I am to be a steward, to use all these good things to help other people.”

To those who wonder why he walked away from football, Brown replies that “when I think about a life of greatness, I think about a life of service."

The Browns are taking a break from farming today to celebrate Thanksgiving. As the News and Observer reports, “He is thankful for what he has been given and thankful for what he hopes to do.”

And we are thankful for his example, which should serve as an encouragement to us all.

On behalf of John Stonestreet and the staff of BreakPoint, I wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving.

A Life of Service and Thanksgiving: Giving BackJason Brown's story serves as a reminder and an encouragement to live a life of service for which God receives all the honor. AN INSPIRING PLACE TO GIVE THANKS FOR..."How Travis Crockett Leaned on God and Helping Hands to Lift Himself From Poverty and Mean Streets" - Kelsey Harkness / November 24, 2014 / http://dailysignal.com/2014/11/24/how-travis-crockett-leaned-on-god-and-helping-hands-to-lift-himself-from-poverty-and-mean-streets/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=morningbell&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRokvK3AZKXonjHpfsX56eguXa%2B3lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4CRcVrI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFQrLBMa1ozrgOWxU%3D [NOTE: Please go to the noted weblink to view video clips related to this story.]

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 5.03.41 PM
When he was 5 years old, Travis Crockett saw his mother’s close friend shot dead on the street. “Why are you crying?” his mom asked, as he wiped away tears. “You don’t even know this person.”
“He killed him over 10 dollars,” Travis told her.

Violence, gangs and drugs were unavoidable. Travis’s father was largely absent from his life. His mother lacked the means to support him and his brother.Although Travis never intended to go down a destructive path, growing up in the Chicago projects, he thought he had little choice.“I had no way out,” he recalls in an interview with The Daily Signal. By eighth grade, Travis was smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and selling drugs. He was kicked out of school for fighting members of rival gangs. When he didn’t return to school for months, it was clear he was in trouble.“All I could do is fit in,” Travis recalls, “so I could have a life and not sit in the house the whole time.” He was barely 15. That’s when a neighborhood ministry worker, Sarah James, unofficially adopted the Crockett family.“Auntie Sarah” made it possible for a cousin to travel across the country to a place called Jubilee Leadership Academy. She asked Travis if he wanted to go too. “I just burst into tears,” Travis says, recalling his response: “Yeah, I want to go to Jubilee. I always wanted to go to Jubilee.”

Travis’s story, sketched out in the accompanying video from The Daily Signal, is one reason that World magazine selected Jubilee Leadership Academy from among five finalists to receive its 2014 Hope Award for Effective Compassion.Jubilee Executive Director Rick Griffin and his wife, Leann, accepted the award and a check for $25,000 from World’s Warren Cole Smith and Jamie Dean at a Nov. 20 luncheon in Washington, D.C. The ceremony took place during The Heritage Foundation’s annual Antipoverty Forum bringing together politicians and policymakers, government and nonprofit officials and faith leaders to advance conservative solutions to poverty and human need.

Founded in 1995, Jubilee Leadership Academy is an all-boys Christian boarding school just outside Prescott, Wash., a small town two hours southwest of Spokane.Jubilee is situated on 400 acres donated by philanthropists Ralph and Cheryl Broetje, owners of Broetje Orchards, one of the largest privately owned apple orchards in the U.S. Their vision for Jubilee was to plant seeds of hope in the lives of troubled boys.Through counseling, a fully accredited academic program and a range of vocational and athletic activities, Jubilee’s staff of 45 offers struggling boys ages 13 to 18 a way out of poverty, drugs and violence. “It’s that chance for a comeback, that leveling of the playing field,” says Griffin, one of Jubilee’s five founders as well as the school’s executive director. “It’s a place where all their debts before won’t be counted against them.”

Indeed, the academy’s name comes from the Bible’s Old Testament. It recounts that every 50th year the Israelites would celebrate the year of Jubilee, when God desired to mark release from indebtedness and bondage. Prisoners, captives and slaves were released, debts were forgiven and property was returned to original owners. In other words, it was an opportunity to begin again.

Griffin, in an interview with The Daily Signal before learning the Hope Award would go to Jubilee, says he hopes to raise enough money to renovate the academy’s  dorm, construct a new one and build a gym.The academy, while not much to look at, provides what he describes as a Christ-centered community where troubled youth can make that new beginning.

“I always knew [God] was there,” Travis recalls of growing up in Chicago:"Through the ages 5 to 11, I stayed in a church every single Sunday. But I still had this anger issue and it affected me one day. God—he never let go. He brought me to this place in the middle of nowhere so I could find Him again.

Although some boys pay their own way through the program, Jubilee offers scholarships to those who can’t afford it.“It is really important to our mission that we offer the program to anyone who desires to change their life,” says Griffin, 50, a native of Wyoming. The average stay at Jubilee Leadership Academy is just over a year.  Travis is about four months shy of two years.

At first resistant, Travis, now 16, has grown to appreciate the program and the staff. He has taken on a leadership role. “He is now choosing to serve others that are starting out, as a mentor for other young men,” Griffin says:"Travis knows what they’re going through and he can walk them through that. He’s choosing now to give out of his skill set instead of just advancing for himself."

If it weren’t for Jubilee, Travis says, he still would be on the streets.“I would probably be in Chicago with my friends—or my so-called friends—gang-banging and stuff like that.” Now, he hopes to return to the projects for a different reason: to help other kids in need, as part of a ministry:"I just want to share my testimony of what I’ve been through and the things that I have seen, and I just want to help them not to go down that same path that I did." In the meantime, Travis has big dreams of graduating high school, attending Eastern Washington University and making it to the NBA.“But I have to get taller, of course,” he jokes.

Griffin, who overcame his own difficult circumstances to earn a master’s degree in education from the University of Phoenix, hopes to continue helping to give direction to troubled adolescents and teens.
“Every dollar that comes in means one more dollar we get to give to an individual who doesn’t have one,” Griffin says. “Our hope is that we could build another dorm to help more kids who are struggling.”

"Amid Crises, Obama Pushes Out Hagel as Defense Secretary" - Josh Siegel/ November 24, 2014 / http://dailysignal.com/2014/11/24/amid-crises-obama-pushes-hagel-defense-secretary/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dailydigest&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRokvK%2FLZKXonjHpfsX56eguXa%2B3lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4CRctmI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFQrLBMa1ozrgOWxX0TD7slJfbfYRPf6Ba2Jwyrfo%3D

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel resigned today after less than two years in the post amid the struggles of President Obama’s national security team to respond to a slew of global crises. Hagel, the only Republican in Obama’s Cabinet, is widely believed to have been pushed out by the president as he seeks a different approach to enduring challenges such as the Islamic State terrorist group and the deadly Ebola virus.

Hagel, 68, a low-key former U.S. senator from Nebraska and combat veteran of the Vietnam War, had been skeptical about the Iraq War. He endured a brutal confirmation process in the Senate, where critics questioned his familiarity with the issues, to get the top Pentagon job.Hagel came in with the assignment from Obama to manage the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan and to lead a significant paring of the military budget.

In an awkward announcement of his departure shortly after 11 a.m. from the White House’s State Dining Room, Obama, with Hagel and a sullen-looking Vice President Joe Biden flanking him, thanked Hagel for providing a “steady hand” and “bolstering America’s leadership in the world.” Obama, listing what he called accomplishments on Hagel’s watch, said it was the “appropriate time” for Hagel to go.After Hagel’s own gracious but general remarks, the president initiated a hug with the man he called a close friend and adviser.

Hagel becomes the third defense secretary to resign under Obama, following Robert Gates and Leon Panetta. He called his tenure the “greatest privilege” of his life and vowed to stay on and work “just as hard every moment” until the Senate confirms his successor.Hagel ended his remarks by offering a hearty “Happy Thanksgiving” to “team members” seated in the audience, including the also-departing Attorney General Eric Holder, National Security Adviser Susan Rice and Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Such politeness and deference may have been Hagel’s undoing, some argue.

Hagel and Obama shared mutual opposition to the Iraq War from their former perches on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Obama noted his gratitude that his Republican colleague had accompanied him on a trip to Afghanistan after he won the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.
“This news is unsurprising,” said Steve Bucci, a foreign and national security policy expert at The Heritage Foundation who is a former top Pentagon official and Army Special Forces officer. Bucci, calling the forced resignation a “diversion,” told The Daily Signal:

Hagel never really had the skills for the position; he was put in place solely to provide cover for the budget slashing at the Department of Defense. By kicking him to the side of the road, Obama loses nothing, save a timid voice who was just starting to point out that the president’s Iraq/Syria policy was not working. The foreign and defense policy failure is the president’s, and firing Hagel is nothing more than a diversion, the equivalent of saying, ‘Ignore that man behind the curtain...

But Hagel had struggled to articulate the administration’s strategy to counter the rise of the Islamic State, the brutal terrorist group also known as ISIS or ISIL, and fought with the White House’s National Security Council over how to best deal with Syria’s three-year civil war. Hagel recently sent a memo to Rice arguing for more clarity on how to confront Syrian President Bashar Assad. The White House is carrying out out a limited military role in Syria focused on combating ISIS —  and not on removing the dictator Assad from office.Dempsey, as chairman of the Joint Chiefs, seemingly grabbed the spotlight from Hagel in recent months by frequently making public comments about the possible need to send U.S. ground troops to fight ISIS.Obama has resisted that possibility....

But Bucci argues that the next defense secretary might not hold much weight in carrying out Obama’s policies.“He needs to pick someone who is competent and has the spine to stand up to the president,” Bucci said. “But whoever he puts in there won’t have an ability to make a lot of difference.”

"How Conservatives Can Attack Obama’s Immigration Plan Without Alienating Hispanics" -Mike Gonzalez/ November 23, 2014 / http://dailysignal.com/2014/11/23/conservatives-can-attack-obamas-immigration-plan-without-alienating-hispanics/?utm_source=heritagefoundation&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=morningbell&mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRokvK3AZKXonjHpfsX56eguXa%2B3lMI%2F0ER3fOvrPUfGjI4CRcVrI%2BSLDwEYGJlv6SgFQrLBMa1ozrgOWxU%3D [AS I SEE IT: YES! This is such a great article written by a Hispanic American. I only wish every (conservative) Republican lawmaker makes a copy of this and frames it for their office AND set it out to his/her colleagues and conservatives everywhere. - Stan]

At stake in the fight over President Obama’s executive action on immigration could be the future voting patterns of Hispanics—not just of the 5 million or so illegal immigrants he expects to legalize, but also the 46 million or so potential voters who are here legally. If Obama can assimilate all of them into his vision of a new America that accepts greater reliance on public assistance and government interference, then it’s game over for the conservative cause.

This is why it’s crucial for conservatives to do two things that may seem contradictory but are in fact complementary. The first is to fight executive amnesty through all means available. The second is to not allow the issue of illegal immigration to control the Right’s message to Hispanic Americans.

[1] Rhetorically, it should not be hard to fight executive action. There are upward of five videos of the president himself telling crowds (mostly Hispanic, in fact) that it would be illegal for him to act on his own. That Obama has the impudence to do it now and risk putting the country through a damaging constitutional crisis shows he knows how high the stakes are.Conservatives of all parties must remain united and single-minded in action and message. They should not fall for the Obama trap of passing “a bill that I can sign.” Everyone knows that means a “comprehensive” immigration package—which would suit the president, but not the country.

[2] Appeal to Hispanics Who Immigrated Legally. As conservatives fight adding these 5 million future voters, they must court the other 46 million Hispanics. Enlisting these Hispanics in the fight for an America of traditional values, intact families and communities, a strong military and a government that’s off our backs and not lying to us is key. It’s also easier than people think.

Consider Kansas as Exhibit A. The Hispanic vote there is certainly not negligible, and growing at 6 percent annually. A tax-cutting Gov. Sam Brownback won this Hispanic vote outright. The president is no doubt aware that the GOP did very well with Hispanics two weeks ago, and doubling down on illegal immigration may be his response.

The GOP improved vastly on Mitt Romney’s 2012 performance among Hispanics, winning 36 percent of the vote against 62 percent for Democrats, according to exit polls. But the numbers are even better than that. If you exclude the non-competitive states of California (where Brown got 76 percent of the Hispanic vote) and New York (where 69 percent voted for Cuomo), the numbers get far better.

In the battleground states of Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada—the states that do count—the GOP did very well. Florida Gov. Rick Scott took a respectable 38 percent of his state’s Hispanic vote, winning Cuban-Americans by a huge margin. In the Cuban districts of Hialeah, Westchester, and Tamiami, he won between 65 percent and 73 percent.

In Nevada, Brian Sandoval won 47 percent of the Hispanic vote. In New Mexico, Susana Martinez seems to have done well. In Colorado, Hispanics constitute 20 percent of the population, and Cory Gardner made a point of reaching out to them. While statewide numbers are not in yet, he pulled about even in heavily Hispanic Pueblo County. Bear in mind that President Obama took 75 percent of the Hispanic vote in Colorado in 2012.

Texas is not exactly a battleground, but the Hispanic vote there is huge. The GOP’s Greg Abbott took 44 percent of the overall Hispanic vote and won Hispanic men outright in the gubernatorial race. And Republican Sen. John Cornyn won the Hispanic vote. Period.

Hispanics Are Not Single-Issue Illegal Immigration Voters. While some of the Democrats’ most ardent Hispanic supporters may have stayed home to punish the president for not using executive action earlier, it is unlikely that such retribution accounts for all these results. In fact, in a Pew survey two weeks ago, illegal immigration ranked only fourth (barely ahead of the Middle East) among issues of concern to Hispanic voters. The three top-ranked issues—education, the economy, and healthcare—are perennial issues that concern all Americans.

Even as they fight the president’s illegal action, conservatives must assiduously communicate with Hispanics, presenting their solutions to all these traditional issues. For example, surveys show that Hispanics love school choice, making it the ultimate wedge issue because leftist teachers unions stand in the way. It’d be a great mistake to limit the conversation to illegal immigration.

Above all, conservatives must not confuse “Hispanics” with “illegal.” Any off-tone comment will be seized upon by the White House and played on Univision all night. Then the president will pose as the champion of all Hispanic Americans and try to ensure that for generations they will vote for policies that will make our country all but unrecognizable.

This is the transformation of our country that conservatives must fight. We are a country of shared experiences, experiences we must share with Hispanics. Those who adhere to traditional values will not be used as shock troops to help Obama “fundamentally transform the United States of America,” as the president promised to do when he was a candidate in 2008.

The stakes are high.
