#688 (11/2) "Halloween Crosses Mark Scary Abortion Reality"

PERSONAL NOTEPraise  God with me as this Sunday, Nov. 3, will mark 40 (yes, FORTY!) years since the night I prayed to receive Christ. Please join me in thanking God for proving Himself again and again to be faithful and worthy of all trust these many years. There have certainly been many twists and turns in my journey with Him, many valleys as well as mountain tops, but through it all, as the song says, "I have learned to trust in Jesus, learned to trust in God." - Stan
NOTE: This Sunday is also the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. I do hope your church is making plans - at least on this one day a year - to stop to pray for our hundreds of thousands  - 400,000 in North Korea alone -  who are imprisoned for their faith. Sunday's post will  focus on them.
CHECK THIS OUT: "This Time: Rock Legend Pens Pro-Life Anthem" - By Paul Strand, October 30, 2013; http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2013/October/This-Time-Rock-Legend-Pens-Pro-Life-Anthem/  NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nashville is where John Elefante, the former lead singer of the rock group Kansas, made a lucrative career producing dozens of albums for himself and others. But with the song "This Time," he's made work intensely personal. That's because Elefante is singing about how his adopted daughter narrowly missed a date with death before she was ever born. This is REALLY special!

URGENT PRAYER REQUESTS:

NEWS ALERT: Oct. 23: "Christians Fleeing IRAQ Area Once Considered Safe," - CBNNews.com, http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/2013/October/Christians-Fleeing-Iraq-Area-Once-Considered-Safe/  "Increased violence in northern Iraq is pushing Christians out of that part of the country. The Kurdish north was considered a safe area for Christians fleeing from violent persecution in the central and southern regions. But bombings in recent months are causing panic and many are fleeing the country. Al qaeda has claimed responsibility for several of those attacks. Some Christians have been told by local police that they "should not be in Iraq because it is Muslim territory." The Christian charity Open Doors International is urging people around the world to pray for Christians in Iraq. They say that if the persecution continues, there may be no Christians left in Iraq by 2020.[PRAY that believers in Iraq will know God's protection and provision; that believers will know[ whether they are called to flee or remain and persevere; and that their persecutors  may come to hear the gospel and come to faith in Christ. - Stan]

"Halloween Crosses Mark Scary Abortion Reality" - By Paul Strand, October 31, 2013; http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2013/October/Halloween-Crosses-Mark-Scary-Abortion-Reality/[PRAY that in next fall's Congressional elections, Americans will not only elect an even MORE pro-life House but give us a majority pro-life Senate that will quickly pass a bill to defund Planned Parenthood as so many Americans have wished for so long. - Stan]

WASHINGTON - Nine-hundred and fifteen pink crosses filled the lawn in front of the U.S. Capitol building this Halloween day. Rev. Pat Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, told CBN News why.

"We billed this as 'what's the most scary thing in Washington D.C. Today?' The most scary thing is our government gives $540 million to an organization that kills 915 children a day. That's over 335,000 a year," Mahoney said. The organization getting all those taxpayer dollars is Planned Parenthood, which aborts one child every 95 seconds.

Missy Martinez, with Students for Life, helped set up the 915 crosses marking Planned Parenthood's daily abortions."Once you see that visual you realize how many it really is," Martinez said as she stuck cross after cross into the Capitol Hill grounds. "Because you hear the number 915 and you say, 'Yeah that's big.' But you see the actual layout of 915 crosses and it's just very sobering," she said. "It hurts your heart when you realize it's that many children that die every day from abortion." And that's just at Planned Parenthood.

Along with the Christian Defense Coalition, Students for Life put on this display: important because student-aged Americans are the main customers for abortion. But they are also the biggest opponents, the pro-life movement's hope for the future.  Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life, talked to CBN News about today's college age generation."This is the generation that's being directly targeted by Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry," Hawkins said. "Ironically, though, this is the generation that is pro-life. They're the least likely to actually favor abortion because we've seen the 3D ultrasounds of our brothers and sisters in the womb." "We all know what partial birth abortion is," she continued. "So we see abortion differently than previous generations."

Pro-lifers young and old keep talking about Planned Parenthood and its monumental amount of abortions because most Americans still don't know about it."Sixty percent of the American public has no idea that Planned Parenthood provides abortions, let alone it's the largest abortion provider in the world," Mahoney said. And that's in a country where more than 70 percent of its citizens say they're against taxpayer funding of abortions.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified on Capitol Hill Wednesday that she's not sure about abortion funding under Obamacare. Hawkins smirked at that claim. "Abortions are covered under Obamacare and taxpayers are going to be funding it," she stated. "But what's really interesting is the secretary herself wrote a memo this April demanding that all insurance providers cover Planned Parenthood and their services in the health insurance exchanges."

These pro-life groups wanted to make sure they put up the 915 crosses on the Capitol grounds because it's Congress that actually funds whatever government pays for."We're saying, 'Look, 915 children die a day because of Planned Parenthood and you helped do it. You help fund this organization,'" she said. "And under Obamacare the tragedy is that money to Planned Parenthood will only increase," Mahoney added. Mahoney mentioned that the House of Representatives, which is majority pro-life, could defund Planned Parenthood any day it wants to.

"Buried in the Fine Print? Obamacare's Abortion Fees" - By Paul Strand, October 11, 2013;  - http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/politics/2013/October/Buried-in-the-Fine-Print-Obamacares-Abortion-Fees/  WASHINGTON -- "There's a good chance Americans may soon be funding abortions without being aware they're doing it. That's because Obamacare health insurance exchanges will be required by law to make everyone on their rosters pay a monthly surcharge to fund abortions for those who want them. These exchanges have been encouraged to talk as little as possible about the fee. Pro-life lawmakers are furious over what they call an effort to hide something important from the public..."
