"Sarah Palin: 'War on Christmas' Tip of Greater Battle" - By David Brody, December 10, 2013,http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2013/December/Sarah-Palin-War-on-Christmas-Tip-of-Greater-Battle/

[AS I SEE IT: I confess. I purposely left Sarah Palin's name out of the title of this post because I know some people just regard her as just another politician, and some have even adopted the media's high-brow view of her plain-spoken manner as reason to demean her. If you happen to be one of those who view her in that way, may I challenge you to pick up a copy of her autobiography, "Going Rogue" (available at your local library) and if you're pressed for time, focus on the chapter that describes her years as Governor of Alaska and also that explains why she resigned from her office after the unsuccessful national campaign in '08. It will explain why people still stand in line for hours to meet her and why she commands such great affection among most conservatives. The book she has just written - which this article refers to - is a great example of her no-nonsense perspective of what's going on in our country but with a great dose of stories of her family and upbringing. I just finished reading the book and noted a number of passages that I hope to quote in the future. Check out her book at the local library; it's a great read that's worth your time. And the major theme of her book - like a lot of what she has to say - serves as a great challenge to all us believers in Christ from a true sister in Christ. - Stan]

NEW YORK -- Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin may not be running for office these days, but that doesn't mean she's staying out of the spotlight. Palin's latest crusade puts her in the middle of the battle to protect the heart of Christmas. In a way, it's like the 2008 election all over again: Hundreds of fans wait in line for hours to say hello to her as she goes around the country promoting her new book, "Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting The Heart of Christmas."

Palin told CBN News the book is a rallying cry for Christians to stand up against those who want keep faith out of the public square."We were founded as written in our charters of liberty, in the documents that created America," Palin said. "We're founded on a Judeo-Christian faith that would allow forever the right to express or respect for faith in America."

Beware of 'Joe McScrooge' - Palin warned those rights are under attack from atheists. She has a name for them in the book: "Joe McScrooge." "Joe McScrooge armed with an attorney is quite dangerous," Palin proclaimed.Indeed, each year such stories constantly make the news. Just recently, a Colorado school stopped its association with Operation Christmas Child (LINK) after atheists threatened to sue.The same thing happened in Alsip, Ill., where the small town stopped putting up its annual cross on the water tower for fear of a lawsuit.

Palin said the situation has her concerned."The road that we are on today is too many of those angry atheists armed with attorneys would try to take away that freedom to express faith. It's going to end in ruin unless we do something about it," she warned. That's where the fight comes in. Palin, who knows a thing or two about adversity, is urging Christians not to be intimidated."I want this book to be a call to action, to take steps for school districts, for communities, for business owners, for families to understand they don't have to hide their faith.  They don't have to be embarrassed by it," she said.

War on Christmas? - Palin added this isn't just about fighting lawsuits."This war on Christmas is really the tip of the spear when it comes to a greater battle that's brewing," Palin told CBN News. "And that battle that's brewing is those who would want to take God out of our society, out of our culture, which will lead to ruin as history has proven."

Palin also sees big government as part of the problem and makes it clear that that includes the Obama administration."To tell you the truth, I don't know what they're doing right," Palin told CBN News. She keeps her message out there as a Fox News contributor. Her political action committee is loaded with supporters and money to burn in the upcoming 2014 midterm elections.Candidates still seek her endorsement and she is hitting the road in important political states like Iowa, preaching constitutional conservatism.

But Palin isn't interested in just taking on the current president. Her heart is for a better America, a place where people can express their faith freely. In her book, she says without a faith in Christ, she wouldn't have been able to stand through those tough times when she ran for vice president.

"There is no way I would be standing if it weren't for that faith that I adopted as a kid, asking Christ into my life, putting my life in His hands, saying, 'God you're my Creator. I've got to believe that You know more about destiny than I do, so, heaven forbid I try to orchestrate it myself,'" she said. "'Lord, send me. I'll go.'

The Hollywood Reporter said ESPN reversed a decision to drop a Christmas ad that mentioned Jesus, following a barrage of criticism from its viewers. The ad, released by Glennon Children's Medical Center in Missouri, states in part, "We celebrate the birth of Jesus and the season of giving, bringing hope to the many children, parents and families that we serve."
