"Black History Month Marred as Planned Parenthood Kills Black Woman in Abortion"by Micaiah Bilger | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com | 2/11/14; http://www.lifenews.com/2014/02/11/black-history-month-marred-as-planned-parenthood-kills-black-woman-in-abortion/

At least some justice has been done for a black woman who died from a botched abortion.

In 2012, Tonya Reaves bled to death at a Chicago Planned Parenthood. The abortionist killed her baby, injured her, and the reportedly waited five hours before sending her to the hospital.

The case involving Reaves’ death settled this month: Planned Parenthood is required to pay $2 million to Reaves’ young son, according to LifeNews.com. Sadly, the abortionist continues to work; and the Planned Parenthood is still open. How can this be?

I grieve when I think of this young woman. They probably didn’t tell her that pregnancy resources are available for her and her baby. They didn’t tell her that abortion can hurt or kill her as well as her preborn baby. They didn’t tell her that an abortion could leave her older child motherless.

Abortion centers target women of Reaves’ age and race. According to a Life Issues Institute study, 79 percent of Planned Parenthood abortion centers are located in minority neighborhoods. Abortion statistics also point to racial targeting. In Pennsylvania, blacks make up about 11 percent of the population but have 41 percent of the abortions, according to the 2012 report from the Department of Health.

This month is Black History Month, a time when we recognize great men and women who helped to shape our nation. From inventors like George Washington Carver to civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, they have done so much to create a culture that respects and values all human beings. But the work is not done. Quietly, abortion centers are eroding those values.

This February, let’s not just remember these great leaders. Let’s follow their example and continue to fight against discrimination – not just in the black community but in every community where abortion occurs. Let’s fight to protect every human life – born and unborn!

"The Latest Planned Parenthood Scandal The Media is Ignoring" - Cortney O'Brien | Feb 14, 2014; http://townhall.com/tipsheet/cortneyobrien/2014/02/14/the-latest-planned-parenthood-scandal-media-is-ignoring-n1795045?utm_source=thdailypm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl_pm

The Planned Parenthood of Illinois, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation are paying out almost $2 million in a wrongful death lawsuit. That’s right, the pro-abortion organization constantly heralded by pro-choice politicians, liberal feminists and even our president, is responsible for a patient’s death.

The details are disturbing: On July 20, 2012, 24-year-old Tonya Reaves, pictured right, died after a late-term abortion at Planned Parenthood’s Loop Health Center from uncontrolled bleeding, according to court documents.Other reports have implicated a 5-plus hour delay by the Michigan Avenue PP in getting Reaves to Northwestern and more delays in getting treatment there. At the hospital, Reaves was allegedly found to be suffering from an incomplete abortion and perforated uterus.

Reaves’ son is now 3 years old and will receive $1,479,571.39 after attorneys get their cut.

From a journalistic perspective, this would be an enticing story for any news outlet. Yet, a quick Google search of ‘Planned Parenthood wrongful death’ brings up no relevant headlines from the major news networks ABC, CBS or NBC - a lack of coverage that may only be explained by political motives.
Pro-life blogger Jill Stanek pens a brilliant point:" Were this a settlement to a family whose loved one died because a hospital refused her an abortion, it would be broadcast everywhere."

But, considering how long it took them to finally report the gruesome details of abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s ‘House of Horrors,’ maybe we can expect this to reach the printing presses in Spring 2015.
