NEWS/RAYER ALERT! Kiev Leader Leaves, Parliament Calls Early Election - (2/22/2014); http://www.presidentialprayerteam.com/Prayerwatch/
Ukraine’s parliament has voted to call for early presidential elections on May 25. The decision came just hours after embattled President Viktor Yanukovych said he would not respect any decisions made by parliament. "Everything that is happening today is, to a greater degree, vandalism and bandits and a coup d’etat," Yanukovych said in a televised statement. He appeared to be clearly shaken and made long pauses during his speech.

A top aide to Yanukovych said that the president has left Kiev and returned to Kharkiv, the eastern Ukrainian city where he has much of his support base. In his statement before the call for early elections, Yanukovych said decisions made by parliament "are all illegal" and added that he would not sign any of the measures passed by parliament, which include trimming his powers and releasing his jailed arch-rival, ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. After a tumultuous week that left scores dead and Ukraine’s political destiny in limbo there are fears the country could split in two. (Sources: ABC, CBS)

As the Lord leads, please pray:
-That the turmoil in Ukraine will be resolved

-Safety for those trapped by the violence in the nation

"Praying For The Military - How you can lift up those who serve" - By Harriet Al-Najjar and Dave Ficere, http://www.presidentialprayerteam.com/prayer101/ [Note: This is the website where I got the article about  a month ago but it is now no longer posted there.]

[AS I SEE IT - I must admit that I have not been faithful to pray for those serving in our military - that is until about a year ago. Then one night, a nightly televised news broadcast shared that there were more soldiers who commited suicide last year than were killed on the battlefield! (That amounts to almost one every day!) For me, it was like a punch in the gut. Then, last Memorial Day, durring a televised concert to commemorate that occasion, they shared that EVERY DAY, 22 veterans commit suicide; that's almost one EVERY HOUR of EVERY DAY! Since then, I've committed to pray for our servicemen EVERY DAY, as one of the first things I do each morning upon awakening.
P.S. -  Interestingly, over the course of these many months, God has led me to pray for 3  things I did not pray for originally: 1) For the enemy-  that God might use dreams and visions to reveal himself to each Taliban fighter, and through that each would come to turn from Islam and place their faith in Christ for their salvation, (I remember when God impressed me to do this. It was as though He said, "Hey, remember that I also died for each of they who want to kill our soldiers." I remember being stunned that I had not considered that before.0; 2)That NONE would come to ANY harm that day, and 3) That POWs and MIAs would be vigilantly pursued such that at least ONE would be returned to their loved ones EVERY day. Unrealistic requests? But if God's Word says "nothing is impossible with God" (Mark 10:27), I say who are we to say what is not in the will of God and if so what then is not impossible. Don't you know that it makes me smile whenever I hear the nightly news anchor say "And the Pentagon reported that last week, there were no American soldiers killed in combat! (Of course, I still wonder how many deployed or veterans may have committed suicide, and so my joy at such news is always tempered.) - Stan

Since 2001, The Presidential Prayer Team has been a resource of encouragement and inspiration for more than four million people in praying for America, the president and other national leaders and members of the Armed Forces. The ministry is built upon the foundation that Almighty God rules over the affairs of men…and moves in response to the prayers of His people. So, with unflinching devotion, members of The Presidential Prayer Team are working every day to raise the shield of prayer over this beloved country.

And—make no mistake about it—the need for prayer has never been greater. So while America’s Armed Forces safeguard liberty around the world, Christians back home must defend the nation in prayer to God; prayers that are “powerful and effective” (James 5:16) on behalf of this wonderful country millions are privileged to call home.

As an example, when praying for American troops ask God to give them a clear and keen sense of His Presence, especially for those serving overseas, far away from home. Ask the Lord to help them see the bigger picture of the military operation they are a part of and—during times of loneliness and separation—tune out negative voices and listen to the Lord.

Often the combination of danger, temperature extremes and physical discomfort, separation from family and boredom can motivate military members to either earnestly seek the Lord or grow discouraged and turn away from Him. Pray that God’s Spirit and presence will guide, encourage and protect them as well as sustain them physically, spiritually and emotionally.

For those returning to the U.S. with physical, mental or emotional injuries, pray that God will give them physical, emotional and spiritual healing as well as a strong support system and good medical facilities.

Families of military members also need your prayers, and that includes the families of the nation’s reservists and National Guardsmen who have been activated and deployed. These families also need God’s comfort, peace and the sense of His presence in their daily lives. Pray that God will strengthen them and provide for them spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally during their loved one’s deployment.Pray, too, for the grace they need to cope with the special challenges and extra load they may have to carry in the absence of their loved ones. Pray that they too will find a good support system of other spouses, parents and children that can be of encouragement to them, as they cheer on others in their support group. And, pray for those military members and families going through a transitional phase, whether that is first being separated or finally being reunited after deployment. Both of these can be stressful times of readjustment and caring for new needs.

In addition to praying for the military, I Timothy 2:1-2 says you need to pray for the president as one who leads and is the Commander-in-Chief over the military. Since 2001, The Presidential Prayer Team ministry has helped you do just that, by providing you information and insight you can use to prayer for the nation’s leaders from the president through the military chain-of-command. In addition, you should also pray for those who serve in various departments of the Pentagon, Congress and important government departments. By praying for each of these individuals by name, you can directly affect the experience each member of the military has during his or her service and afterwards...

America’s active military and veterans have sacrificed all to protect the United States and the freedoms Americans hold dear. They’ve faced unimagined dangers and many of their families have experienced hardships and even the loss of a loved one. They—both those who serve and their families—deserve and need your prayers. The staff at The Presidential Prayer Team invites you to make an eternal difference for those willing to die for you and the nation!
