#3032 (5/31) SUNDAY SPECIAL: "What Is God Saying in This Pandemic?"

"WHAT IS GOD SAYING IN THIS PANDEMIC?" - John Stonestreet and Roberto Rivera, Breakpoint.org, 05/28/20; https://breakpoint.org/what-is-god-saying-in-this-pandemic
A recent poll conducted by the University of Chicago and the Associated Press concluded that “the coronavirus has prompted almost two-thirds of American believers of all faiths to feel that God is telling humanity to change how it lives.” For Christians, who know from Scripture that God has revealed Himself as the ultimate and consistent communicator, the question isn’t if He’s speaking in the events of the last few months. He is. But what is He saying?

Over these past two months, I’ve concluded that none of the most important issues we face today as a culture were created by this virus. Rather, the virus exposed and accelerated issues that already mattered. For example, the utopian aspirations of Western culture, like the embarrassing video of celebrities singing John Lennon’s “Imagine,” have been tested, found wanting, and should be abandoned. Both our self-centered delusions of “living for today” and our technocratic fantasies of controlling nature have proved inadequate for the challenges of coronavirus.

We’ve also seen that ours is a culture lost on the dignity of human life. With the threat of hospitals being overrun, how do we even approach the question of rationing treatment and care? When hospitals weren’t overrun in much of the country, one-size-fits-all visitation policies became dehumanizing barriers to healing, which harmed patients and family members unnecessarily. Part of the Church’s task, in bearing witness to the sanctity of each and every life, is to ensure that people are never sacrificed on the various altars of “efficiency.”

The confusing relationship between science and American culture was complicated long before COVID-19. For years now, the phrase “the science is settled,” has been used as a sort of secular equivalent for “Thus saith the Lord.” Yet, the ever-changing “findings” and “warnings” of the virus experts revealed, again, that a lot of science isn’t as “settled” as many would have us believed. Even dismissing cranks and conspiracy theorists, the overwhelming amount of contradictory information continues to fuel growing distrust in our national “experts.”

More troubling is what we continue to learn about the impact of social-distancing and lockdowns on the already-devastating loneliness epidemic. The overall health impact of loneliness, which is comparable to chain-smoking, not to mention the catalytic role it plays in suicide and addictions, seems to have only worsened in recent weeks. One Bay Area doctor claimed to have seen more deaths by suicide during lockdowns than from covid-19, and as many suicides in the last four weeks as they typically see in an entire year. [italics and colored emphasis mine]

Then there’s the crisis of work and meaning. A 2015 poll of British workers found that 37 percent believed their jobs make “no meaningful contribution to the world.” Now we’ve added the label “non-essential” to millions more, a horrible adjective that fails to recognize the inherent good of work as an essential part of our human dignity.

“Non-essential” is an even worse adjective for religion, but the pandemic has revealed just how many Americans, including Christians, think of church this way. While liquor stores and marijuana shops and tattoo parlors were “essential,” churches were not, including clergy members and chaplains in hospitals. So much about this time revealed just how secular and, to borrow a term from philosopher Charles Taylor, “disenchanted,” American culture has become. What remains to be seen is how many Christians will conclude that video church is an adequate weekly fix from here on out.

To be sure, eventually, the pandemic and its accompanying hysteria will pass. The questions it has raised won’t. At root, all of the issues I’ve mentioned revolve around the fundamental worldview questions: Where did everything come from? Is there a God? Why are we here? What makes us human? Who decides right and wrong? and Where is history headed? [The greater question becomes will the Church be there to give the Biblical answers to those questions.]

#3031 (5/30) PRO-LIFE SAT: "UN is Using Coronavirus to Push Abortion, But President Trump is Pushing Back"

"UN IS USING CORNOVIRUS TO PUSH ABORTION, BUT PRESIDENT TRUMP IS PUSHING BACK" - Grac4e Melton, MAY 26, 2020| https://www.lifenews.com/2020/05/26/un-is-using-coronavirus-to-push-abortion-but-president-trump-is-pushing-back/
One would think that key international organizations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic would maintain a laserlike focus on the physical and economic damage it has done.
But just last week, the acting administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development had to write to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to urge that the United Nations stay focused on saving lives and not be promoting abortion. It became necessary to make this seemingly obvious point because the U.N.’s Global Humanitarian Response Plan currently includes the provision of “sexual and reproductive health services”—the U.N. euphemism for a range of services and procedures that includes abortion—as an essential service on par with such necessities as food security and sanitation.

This is not an isolated instance of the U.N.’s promotion of abortion and its many partnerships with abortion industry leaders. The unsavory history of the United Nations Population Fund’s support of China’s coercive family planning policies may be the best known such instance, but it’s far from the only example of U.N. entities participating in or advancing a progressive abortion agenda. The World Health Organization has a well-documented history of promoting abortion, even in countries where it’s illegal or restricted. The organization insists that “legal and safe abortion” is a prerequisite for achieving the goals of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development, which explicitly rejected abortion as a human right.
The WHO’s guidance to countries on “community-based health care, including outreach and campaigns, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic” includes a specific link to its guidance on self-care for sexual and reproductive health and rights, which envisions “self-managed medical abortion in countries where abortion is illegal or restricted.”

The Trump administration should go beyond this letter as it continues to advance the pro-life, pro-woman agenda that has taken shape under the Protecting Life in Global Health Policy initiative in its broader foreign policy and humanitarian aid efforts. It should also consider creating an office within the U.S. State Department for an ambassador at large to protect unborn life. This individual could further elevate the priority this administration rightly has given to partnering with other countries to defend life and family in the promotion of sustainable development and improved health.

The World Health Organization has been criticized over its deferential treatment of China and its inadequate response in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it stands to lose U.S. funds permanently if it fails to meet criteria the Trump administration is setting forth. That reevaluation of U.S. support for the WHO would be a good opportunity for the U.S. to go a step further and insist that the WHO return to the non-political focus on disease prevention and stopping the spread of epidemics that it was created for, and withdraw from its involvement in promoting controversial issues that do not enjoy support from many U.N. member states.

As the U.S. statement at the just-concluded World Health Assembly meeting appropriately said, “[t]here is no international right to abortion, nor is there any duty on the part of States to finance or facilitate abortion.”

#3030 (5/29) "Obama's Legacy of Deceit"

"OBAMA'S LEGACY OF DECEIT"Larry O'Connor: May 21, 2020; https://townhall.com/columnists/larryoconnor/2020/05/21/obamas-legacy-of-deceit-n2569231 [AS I SEE IT: The refusal of the mainstream media to cover let alone even mention this news speaks greatly of their clear bias in determining what is and what is not news. They somehow consider what the President wears or doesn't wear a mask during this pandemic is more worthy of their attention then whether a former President conspired to decieve the Ameridan people. The lack of reporting on this news is just as telling of their motives as anything else they have done/not done in recent years. It's why the American more and more do not trust the mainstream media as their source for real news. - Stan]
Source: Alyssa Pointer/Atlanta Journal-Constitution via AP

The Obamagate conspiracy is unraveling before our eyes, and it reveals the true legacy of the Obama presidency: deceit, abuse of power, and the use of the Justice Department and intelligence agencies to surveil and punish the former president's political enemies.

This [past] week Attorney General William Barr announced that he did not expect criminal investigations into the Obamagate scandal to reach the namesake of the conspiracy, former President Barack Obama. "As to President Obama and Vice President Biden," Barr said, "whatever their level of involvement based on the information I have today, I don't expect Mr. Durham's work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man."
Of course "I don't expect" and "based on the information I have today" leaves room wide enough for several satisfactory scenarios but let's, for the sake of argument, assume that the ongoing criminal investigation into the Obama Administration's Justice Department, FBI, and intelligence communities delivers indictments and possible convictions of several nefarious actors but doesn't reach as high as Obama and Biden. Is this supposed to be some kind of victory for them? In who's universe?

Let's re-examine what I just proposed. Did you catch it a couple of sentences ago? I will state it again... "...the ongoing criminal investigation into the Obama Administration's Justice Department, FBI, and intelligence communities..." One year ago, that statement was considered a fever-dream of the right-wing, Trumpist conspiracy-theory peddlers who were denying the undeniable truth that Trump was president solely because he criminally conspired with a foreign adversary. Now, it is an undeniable fact that the Justice Department is investigating several figures in the Obama Administration for unlawful activity, and many indications suggest the evidence leads to former CIA Director John Brennan.

An indictment of Obama's henchman at the CIA, Mr. Brennan, would be an incredible turn of events and could lead to the unraveling of the conspiracy that was memorialized in the Oval Office on Jan 5, 2017, as President Obama was ending his eight years in office. Make no mistake, this is a conspiracy. Not a conspiracy theory, but a proven conspiracy. Conspiracy is defined as "a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful." This was certainly a secret plan by a group. We know that now from the declassified email written by Obama's National Security Adviser Susan Rice in the final hours of her tenure at the White House. Whether the plan was to do something unlawful is exactly what US Attorney John Durham is investigating now. Whether the plan was to do something harmful is indisputable.

President Obama and his FBI Director, James Comey, discussed how to withhold sensitive and important national security information from the incoming administration. That was an unprecedented abuse of their power and violated the peaceful transition of power that our nation has enjoyed since its inception. Comey went on to withhold information from President Trump, his president, and he violated the "by the book" protocols for interviewing administration officials. Hell, he even bragged about how not "by the book" his actions were.

So enough with the "nothing but a conspiracy theory" bull, it's a legitimate conspiracy. The only question now is whether it was a criminal conspiracy or not. Stay tuned.
And that's where we keep our eye on the prize. Am I disappointed that Obama and Biden might not face criminal charges because they successfully separated themselves from their conspirators' dirty work? Of course. Does that negate the importance of what the American people must learn about the true nature of the former president and his presidency? Hell no.

The myth that Barack Obama was a transcendent political figure who conducted himself with dignity, propriety, and temperament must be exposed as the made-for-Hollywood fantasy that it always has been. Obama was and is an Alinskyite thug whose only skillset was to charm voters so he could amass power. And he was engaged in those activities right up through the final weeks of his presidency so as to undermine and perhaps even undo his successor, President Trump.

Obama's legacy of deceit must now be exposed so that the full picture of this man and his actions are known. From Fast and Furious, to the IRS scandal, to Benghazi, to spying on American journalists, to spying on the German Chancellor, to spying on the Israeli government, to spying on the Trump campaign... (gee, the Obama Administration sure engaged in a lot of spying) the pattern of corruption and abuse of power is papable for anyone to see.

As AG Barr quipped earlier last week, "history is written by the winners" and, of course, he's right. That's why this next election is so important. If Joe Biden (or whichever Democrat they put in his place) win, they will attempt to re-write the small portion of history we've finally been able to carve out in the past three years as it pertains to the deceitful legacy of Barack Obama. Let's not let that happen.

Frankly, at this point, I am less concerned in trying to win a criminal conviction from a DC jury made up of 91 percent Obama voters than I am in having the truth of Obama's deceit come to light and in having his presidency forever branded as the cancer on American exceptionalism that it truly was.

#3029 (5/28) "Why Should Americans Care about Taiwan?"

"WHY SHOULD AMERICANS CARE ABOUT TAIWAN?" - Tony Perkins, Washington Upate, May 27, 2020; https://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=WA20E57&f=WU20E16
It's a tiny slip of an island, just 110 miles off the coast of China. But a narrow stretch of water isn't the only thing separating Taiwan from its communist neighbors. There, floating in the Formosa Strait, is a surprising patch of democracy. To most people, the thought is astounding. A boat ride away from one of the most oppressive regimes in human history, 23 million people go about their days free. And China can't stand it.

Most Americans probably don't give a second thought to Taiwan -- except maybe to marvel at how a country with a Florida-sized population managed to stave off the coronavirus so effectively. But otherwise, the average person doesn't pay the area much attention. That, Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) argues, is where they're wrong. Taiwan is one of the most important pieces of land in the Pacific -- and if the West wants to teach China a lesson, it had better wrap its head around that -- and fast.

For years, the island nation has been threatened by China with "reunification," which is just a euphemism, former State Department envoy Christian Whiton points out, "for military invasion and conquest." A violent end, he warns, of the 71 years of virtual independence from China. But why should Americans care? Apart from the fact that China is in everyone's doghouse over the coronavirus -- does losing Taiwan to the communists really matter?

Yes, it turns out -- a lot. In the long shadow that China casts over Asia, Taiwan is the one shining rebuke of its "fiction" that totalitarianism is necessary for order and survival, Whiton argues. They've shown the world that "an ethnically Chinese-majority country can achieve stability and prosperity through democracy and the rule of law." It's had three peaceful changes of power since 1996, grown its income to 28th highest in the world, elected its first woman head of state, and shown a surprising respect for religious freedom -- while China, a few hours away, locks millions of Uyghurs behind their concentration camps' barbed wire.

"Every time that Chinese officials rationalize or justify the subservience of law to the whims of the Party, every time they lock someone up for having the wrong views or worshipping the wrong God, every time they run over protesters with tanks in the name of social harmony, every time they threaten their neighbors with military force, Taiwan stands as an example of a different and better way for ethnically Chinese citizens to govern themselves... It represents the future everyone should want for China -- a future that would be marked by collaboration rather than confrontation with America and the rest of the free world."

So when China sends two aircraft carriers dangerously close to Taipei while the entire world is distracted with the pandemic, you'd better believe America cares. "...If Taiwan were to become part of China, as Beijing has insisted it must, China would instantly become a Pacific power." But China needs to be "real careful," Congressman Yoho warns. "They're trying to control the narrative that Taiwan is a part of the [People's Republic of China]. Make no mistake about it: Taiwan has never been a part of the People's Republic of China... It's a distinct culture." So if China wants to overstep its boundaries and test the waters with Taiwan, Yoho explains, "they will pay for [it]."

Nobody wants a conflict, Yoho agreed, but they underestimate our president if they think he won't respond. They think America will back down. Keep in mind," he explained, "that since President Reagan, we have an agreement to sell Taiwan weapons for their defensive... protection. They are our 11th largest trading partner, they're a Western democracy, and they punch way above their weight, as far as a population..." And while China's Xi Jinping wants the world to believe he's in control "of everything," Ted shook his head, "this is a strictly authoritarian power grab."

No American -- including President Trump -- wants to drag America into another foreign conflict, but Taiwan isn't just any other country. It's one of the brightest lights of freedom and prosperity on Asia's shore. If we want to get back at a regime that's caused untold deaths and suffering, the best thing the world can do is lift up Taiwan as an example of what China should be.

In the meantime, Yoho warns, "Chinese leaders need to really understand what they're walking into, because they will have crossed the Rubicon where they can't go back... You know, China talks about reunification, but they never consulted the Taiwanese people. They don't want that [as they proved in their last election]. They have their own military, their own government system. They're a Western democracy. They have their own flag, and we can go on and on and on. They are an independent nation." And it's in everyone's interest -- including ours -- to keep it that way.

"TRUMP INSISTS IT'S OPEN SEASON FOR CHURCHES" - Tony Perkins, Washington Update, May 26, 2020; https://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=WA20E54&f=WU20E15
Even though we're in a presidential election year, liberals have yet to roll out their favorite catch phrase: separation of church and state! Maybe that's because -- in the wake of the coronavirus -- some Democratic governors have brazenly crossed that line of "separation," placing stricter restrictions on church gatherings than other establishments like restaurants, malls, and even casinos. But enough is enough. And on Friday, after hearing from pastors all across the country, President Trump took advantage of his bully pulpit to start getting pastors behind their own.

Calling together members of the media for a surprise briefing, the president had a message for America's governors: Do the right thing. "...[A]llow these very important, essential places of faith to open right now for this weekend. If they don't do it," he warned, "I will override the governors. In America, we need more prayer, not less." Even before Friday's press conference, the Trump DOJ has been working almost around the clock, sending attorneys into states where leaders have been less than cooperative with the First Amendment. In places like Mississippi and California, the unequal treatment has been so stunning that the attorney general himself had to personally intervene.

The president has obviously been watching these injustices, pointing out that "Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential. It's not right. So I'm correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential places that provide essential services." Then, in a nod to the risks of in-person services, he assured people that the public health was in good hands. "The ministers, pastors, rabbis, imams, and other[s] will make sure their congregations are safe as they gather."

The CDC helped guarantee that by issuing new guidance for faith communities. The suggestions are what most Americans have come to expect during the coronavirus -- everything from social distancing, masks, and deep-cleaning to no shared communion cups, hymnals, and other property. Of course, as many will point out, they're recommendations, not requirements -- knowing that the ultimate decisions rest with pastors, not the government. "Implementation should be guided by what is feasible, practical, and acceptable, and tailored to the needs and traditions of each community of faith. The information offered is non-binding public health guidance for consideration only; it is not meant to regulate or prescribe standards for interactions of faith communities in houses of worship."

Meanwhile, out in California, the president's message seemed to have hit its mark. Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who's been a thorn in every congregation's side, finally backed off his hardline policy and paved the way for houses of worship to start welcoming people in small numbers. That's a major victory for the state's pastors -- 1,200 of whom had already politely informed him they were moving ahead anyway. For now, the state's health department is asking for just 25 percent of the buildings' capacity -- or 100 people, whichever is lower. If counties choose, they can impose stricter rules. But at least for now, Newsom is changing his tune.

Of course, the far-Left -- who's enjoyed keeping Christians locked up and away from society -- can't stand the idea that the president's strongest base may soon be reunited. Some members of the liberal media are even trying to paint Trump's directive as the move of a desperate president. In the New York Times, Peter Baker insisted that by treating churches like every other organization, the president is somehow "wading into the culture wars." That, in the end, these congregations aren't "essential" to anything but Trump's political future.

Politico followed the Times into the mud, arguing that the president only did this to "safeguard his relationship with religious conservatives." Both are wrong. I know it's hard for the cynical, cultural elite to understand, but anyone who's spent any time at all watching the Trump administration for these past three and a half years knows that the president's commitment to religious liberty isn't a gimmick. It's not a campaign shtick. It's an honest-to-goodness, top-to-bottom administration priority that he's made good on at every possible moment. Suggesting that he wants to reopen churches to mine votes in November isn't just shoddy journalism, it's absurd.

Frankly, the whole idea of in-person worship shouldn't even be controversial -- let alone partisan! It's simply treating churches, mosques, and synagogues the same as everyone else. If that's "firing a salvo in the culture war," then our country's in trouble. Because going to church isn't Republican. It isn't Democratic. It's American. And the minute we think otherwise, we've lost.

PRAYER MATTERS:

"To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against
the disorder of the world Karl Barth
"Prayer is inviting God into a seemingly impossible situation and trusting/resting in His love and grace to accomplish His perfect will in His perfect time and for His greatest glory. Intercession is  one of the great privileges AND responsibilities for EVERY believer."- Stan

“INTERCESSORS ARE THE RUDDER” – A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT - Wanda Alger, June 28th, 2017; https://www.getamericapraying.com/blog/I was recently given a word by my good friend, Bill Yount. His word greatly encouraged me as an intercessor. Working for Intercessors for America, I soon realized it was not just a word for me, but for all who have been praying for our nation, wondering if their prayers are truly making any difference. Bill told me, “I kept seeing you as a small rudder on a huge ship. Hidden, but giving guidance. Although it seemed slow it was turning the whole ship. Patience was needed to see the impact of your…ministry. I sense the Lord saying, ‘Don’t jump ship! I’ve made you the rudder!’ ” I was immediately touched in my spirit by this encouragement, knowing that our seemingly small place in prayer was having a great impact.
James 3:4 talks about the power of a small rudder to steer a large ship. In this scripture about the power of our tongue, consider the power of prophetic intercession! In the Forerunner Commentary on this verse we read, “…rudders manipulate the course of immense ocean vessels with a slight movement of a pilot’s hand. Since it is underwater and aft, the rudder of a ship does its work UNSEEN. A passenger is ignorant of its movements most of the time. Yet, when it is in proper working order, the rudder holds more power over the ship than the wind. The wind will blow, toss, even destroy the ship’s rigging, but the rudder guides the ship exactly where it directs.”
This is God’s promise to the intercessors in this hour of national turbulence. Don’t stop praying! Your prayers have great power to turn the ship! Continue praying, interceding, and discerning the workings and movements of the Holy Spirit, being faithful to God’s commands. As we come together to declare God’s faithfulness, this nation will, once again, head in the direction that God intends. Don’t give up and don’t give in. Regardless of the winds of adversity and the fires of the enemy, God’s people have a power that cannot be matched. Let us join in faith and continue to pray and speak of God’s faithfulness in order to bring God’s people and this nation into the fullness of God’s plans. Note this additional encouragement from God’s word:
Colossians 2:15 – “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him” (ESV).
Psalm 33:8-11 – “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”

PRAY FOR AMERICA: THANK GOD for His many blessings on America throughout it's history. May we then ask that AMERICA once again be a blessing TO GOD, by once again submitting to HIS will in our affairs - both personal and national - that He may truly "heal our land." (2 Chron. 7:14) Short of that, we should not be saying "God Bless America"but instead "God be merciful towards America!"
PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS 1) Pray for President Trump and his advisers, that they would select Godly leaders at the federal level who will be accountable to do an excellent job (or be fired!) ; that he would seek God's wisdom and be enabled to lead our country effectively in the years ahead; and 2) Pray our leaders at every level of government will Spirit-filled, leading us with Godly wisdom and integrity; that they will  only pass legislation and enact policies that will benefit Americans today as well as future generations and NOT do any lasting harm.
SUPREME COURT: PRAY that the justices will only hand down decisions that are Constitutionally sound and in the best interests of our country now and for future generations.

World-Wide Prayer Requests:

PRAISE GOD for the continuing recent successes against ISIS! P
ray that coalition forces will be able to  fully destroy the leadership and infrastructure of ISIS.
*For believers in Syria and in this region as they navigate so much uncertainty. May they remain faithful to God through these most difficult times as He sustains them with peace and His Spirit's strength.

God is working when we don’t see itAs people of faith, we continue to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters even when we don’t see answers. But sometimes we receive answers when we’re not expecting them—such as Tajikistan Pastor Bahrom Kholmatov’s unexpected early release from prison. After his release, Pastor Bahrom said: “I would like to express my huge gratitude to all the people who supported and prayed for me,my family and my church. All these three years, I felt your prayers; they helped me to stand, they helped my precious wife and children … Your prayers helped us to stand strong, through all these difficulties to grow spiritually and to transform into the nature of our Heavenly Lord!”
May 27 - Thank God for Pastor Bahrom’s early release and pray that he and his family would continue to experience the joy of being reunited.

STANDING STRONG THROUGH THE STORM - OpenDoorsUSA.org
At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.- 2 Tim. 4:16
SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THOSE WHO SUFFER
The Apostle Paul knew exactly what it was like to be alone, to be deserted by all who called themselves “brothers” and “sisters.” A former colleague who has done considerable travel among the persecuted says, “It is hard to believe that Christians are the largest persecuted group in the world today. But it is even more difficult to believe that this is so seldom mentioned in our gatherings and church services. More Christians know the names of their favorite actors than their fellow believers who are in prison.”
He continues, “With every trip something in my heart breaks as I hear the echoes of suffering:
I remember the echoes of an Egyptian mother as she shared how her young boy was stuck in a haystack because she refused to deny Jesus.
I remember the sounds of weeping as fellow students in Indonesia shared how Sariman, their co-student, was hacked to death.
I remember the cries of anguish as we walked from church to church that was burned to the ground on the island of Lombok.
I remember the tears of Rebecca in Iran as she showed the picture of her father who was stabbed to death for sharing the gospel.
I remember the voice of Pastor Daniel in Vietnam as he shared how he was chained to the ground for six months.
I remember the fear of Grace from Sudan as she shared how her church was attacked and her friend was shot through the head.
Oh, I remember the cries of Caleb in Eritrea as he shared with tears how two dear friends were executed in front of him because of their faith.
And I remember the tears of Joy in the southern Philippines as she shared how her fiancé was shot to death in their church in Mindanao.
But, most all, I remember the deafening sounds of silence every time I return home.
RESPONSE
How can I be silent today? How can I not speak on behalf of those who suffer? How can I desert those that belong to the same body that I belong to and who desperately need the encouragement of my intervention?.
