#3129 (9/5) PRO-LIFE SAT: "Abortion and Planned Parenthood Exposed"

"ABORTION AND PLANNED PARENTHOOD EXPOSED" - John Stonestreet and Maria Baer, Breakpoint.org, 09/4/20; https://www.breakpoint.org/abortion-and-planned-parenthood-exposed/
If I told you I had an exodontia appointment today, during which my bicuspid would be extracted from my alveolar bone, you may not know what I’m talking about. In fact I’m not sure I even pronounced those words correctly. If, however, I said I’m having a tooth pulled at the dentist, you would.
We use language to soften reality all the time. We might say that someone “passed away” instead of “died” to come across as more sensitive and caring. We might use the phrase “let go” rather than “fired” for the same reason.

Euphemism and jargon can be useful in certain situations, but we should never use language to hide evil, especially when it comes to something as important as abortion. For years, advocates within the abortion industry have obscured and misled, dodging the consequences of their actions by both euphemism and deception. Now, thanks to a new round of videos released by pro-life activist David Dalieden and the Center for Medical Progress, at least a handful of abortionists have been forced into brutal honesty.

In 2015, Dalieden first released a series of videos, taken undercover, of multiple Planned Parenthood executives bragging about how lucrative the practice of selling body parts from aborted babies was. One executive, Mary Gatter, famously said, on camera, that she hoped to sell enough body parts to buy a Lamborghini.
The videos released last week add yet another dimension, showing these same Planned Parenthood executives forced, under oath, to watch the incriminating footage of themselves from 2015 and answer for what they said. It was an exercise in linguistic gymnastics.

Back in 2015, Tram Nguyn, the vice president of abortion access for Planned Parenthood of Gulf Coast, told Daleiden that aborted babies were, at times, delivered from their mother “a little too intact.” Because partial birth abortion is a federal crime, such an admission would create quite a problem for Planned Parenthood. On the other hand, to make enough money for a Lamborghini, they need to deliver body parts as intact as possible.
During deposition, when asked to clarify this comment, Nguyen admitted that sometimes aborted babies were, in fact, delivered with limbs still attached to the torso. Sometimes, she said, the fetuses may even be delivered with the “calvarium” attached. “Calvarium” is Latin for part of a skull.

What she is describing is partial-birth abortion. Even that, however, is a euphemism for what is, really, a live dissection. Tram Nguyen can use all the Latin she wants, but she still admitted under oath that Planned Parenthood partially delivered babies and then killed them to sell their body parts.

Believe it or not, that’s not the only legal question created by this sworn testimony. Planned Parenthood execs also seem to admit violating a portion of its own patient protocol, the part in which the patients are promised that abortionists will never alter the procedures in order to obtain sell-able parts. Under oath, however, Dr. Deborah Nucatola admitted that sometimes abortionists turn babies around to be delivered feet-first, in order to keep as much of their little bodies in-tact as possible.
Also in the video, Lamborghini enthusiast Dr. Mary Gatter makes a heroic but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to use a language distinction to obscure how serious a violation of patient’s rights this is. After confirming that changing procedure to harvest body parts would violate policy and ethics, she assures us they didn’t actually change the procedure, only the technique used during the procedure.

Why do abortionists and those who profit from abortions so often hide behind euphemism? Why the secrecy and sleight-of-hand? Even before Roe v. Wade right up until now, people and politicians have hidden behind jargon like “fetus” and “products of conception” and “calvarium.” Now, even words like “procedure” and “technique” are used as if they have no real meaning.

Everything good and right and true exists in the light, according to Ephesians 5. Evil tries to hide itself, and hidden evil flourishes. Everything this industry tries to hide, including the humanity of the fetus and the reality that this “procedure” kills, and just how brutal it is, we must expose. We will continue talking about abortion here on BreakPoint in plain language, until we don’t have to anymore.

And we will do our best to train every Christian to make the case for life, including through our next 4-week Short Course, “Champion Life: How to Oppose Abortion and Protect the Unborn,” which begins this coming Tuesday. Come to BreakPoint.org to register, and tell your friends and family about it.

I do believe there are signs that the tide is turning on abortion in the United States. And I believe the light shines on the darkness, the better off we will be in defending the unborn. Even though many Americans still support legal abortion, a wide majority now favor certain safety measures: such as requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, and stipulating that a doctor must first conduct and show mothers an ultrasound before performing an abortion.

We must not grow weary. Each day that exposes abortion for what it is, is better than the day before. And remember, sign up for our short course, “Champion Life” at BreakPoint.org

#3128 (9/4) "Are African Americans Truly Warming up to Trump?"

"ARE AFRICAN AMERICANS TRULY WARMING UP TO TRUMP?" - David Limbaugh: Sep 04, 2020; https://townhall.com/columnists/davidlimbaugh/2020/09/04/are-african-americans-truly-warming-up-to-trump-n2575628 [AS I SEE IT: It has frustrated me greatly that there are not more African-Americans who are noting the great things President Trump has done for their communities and how more have not spoken out in their support. It reminds me of my parents who were life-long Democrats only because their friends in influencial positions convinced them that only Democrats had their interests at heart. I don't know another way to speak of it except to say it was a "herd" mentality. It's one thing if those we vote for are benefiting us and the country at large, but to simply vote for someone because we're told to do so blindly is just wrong. - Stan]

I get the sense that rightward movement is occurring in the African American community. This is more than anecdotal. It's not random. It is for good reason.

At least since the '60s, the Democrats have had a lock on the black vote, which they've nurtured and protected like leftists guard their copies of "The Communist Manifesto." Their conquest was cynical in its inception and has grown more so through the years.

You've probably read President Lyndon Johnson's overtly racist remarks concerning his support for the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act -- remarks that are in such poor taste I won't repeat them here. Suffice it to say that Johnson allegedly bragged his support would secure African American allegiance to Democrats for decades to come. Even those who unconvincingly dispute Johnson's despicable statements don't deny that he habitually used racist language.

Johnson must have known what he was doing, though I doubt that the Democrats' monopoly on the black vote is based solely on the misperception that Democrats have been the sacred guardians of blacks' civil liberties. Democrats have also shrewdly cultivated the fiction that only they care about the economic plight of minorities.

More recently, they've gone further and portrayed Republicans as not just indifferent but affirmatively racist. This slander is a special kind of evil, violating on a grand scale the Mosaic Commandment against bearing false witness -- and causing immeasurable damage to race relations.

In some cases, Republican policies have been easy for Democrats to mischaracterize. Republicans have historically opposed excessive welfare programs. While supporting some level of safety net, they believe that fostering long-term dependency on government is devastating to the recipients and to society overall because it diminishes the work ethic and human dignity, and sabotages the nuclear family.
Democrats have often depicted principled conservative opposition to these programs as evidence of their lack of compassion and outright racism. A more modern version of this smear is Democrats' attributing Republican support for a border wall to their racism. If they're racist toward blacks, they're surely racist toward Mexicans -- and everyone else who "doesn't look like them."

If anything borders on racist, it's this constant pandering and condescension toward minorities. The suggestion is that they're incapable of helping themselves and benevolent politicians must do it for them. Opposition to voter ID laws is a perfect example. Why isn't it offensive to suggest that minority voters will be disadvantaged if required to present legal identification at the polling place? This is a modern case of what some call "the soft bigotry of low expectations."

As insulting as that is, what's worse is many Democrats assume the minority vote is a given. It's no secret that in national elections, Democrats depend on the overwhelming majority of black votes. The failing -- and thus, less circumspect -- Joe Biden cavalierly displayed this presumption when he said if blacks don't vote for him over President Donald Trump, they "ain't black." Some seemed shocked at Biden's remark; others dismissed it as just another instance of weird Joe shooting off his harmless mouth again.

Nonsense. This attitude is not unique to Biden. The left has been treating black conservatives like second-class citizens for years. From Condoleezza Rice to Clarence Thomas to Thomas Sowell to Walter Williams to Larry Elder, conservative blacks have been egregiously mistreated and dehumanized by those, ironically, who claim to be the most egalitarian and least racist.

But as I said, it seems a movement is underway in which African Americans are increasingly rejecting the Democrats' identity politics and exploitation and treatment of them as part of a group rather than as individuals.Rhetoric eventually rings hollow if it doesn't match reality. President Trump's economic policies objectively resulted in historically low records of black unemployment and a real increase in their standard of living. Disingenuous denials of these facts are not lost on African Americans.

There's something else going on as well: the torching of our cities, the movement to defund the police and the overall breakdown of law and order. Democrats are miscalculating if they assume minorities are less desirous of safe streets than everyone else. A recent Rasmussen poll showed that 64 percent of Americans worry about "cop shortage and public safety," and "Blacks (67%) are the most concerned about public safety where they live, compared to 63% of whites and 65% of other minority Americans." Yet Democrats, until recent polling began to scare them, conspicuously refused to denounce the violence.

I am encouraged when I see Candace Owens and countless other young black conservatives courageously standing against the narrative that has been shoved down our throats since the '60s. I am encouraged that former outspoken Democratic attorney Leo Terrell offered to campaign for President Trump in all the swing states between now and the election, saying the Democratic Party no longer represents him or the interests of the black community. I am heartened by a YouTube video of four upbeat young black men with MAGA hats saying that the rioters don't speak for them, that they don't want to be treated as victims, that they appreciate American liberty and enthusiastically support President Trump. I am thrilled about polls reporting double-digit support for Trump among blacks.

Even apart from the election, ideological diversity is immensely gratifying. For too long, the Democratic Party has taken for granted the African American vote. We shall see if it comes to regret that in November.

#3127 (9/3) "Left Should Blame Themselves, Not Trump, for the Riots"

"LEFT SHOULD BLAME THEMSELVES, NOT TRUMP, FOR THE RIOTS" - James Carafano / @JJCarafano / September 02, 2020 / https://www.dailysignal.com/2020/09/02/left-should-blame-themselves-not-trump-for-the-riots/
President Donald Trump speaks with local officials on Sept. 1 at Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the social unrest spurred by the police shooting of Jacob Blake, an African American, in the back. (Photo by Mandel Ngan/AFP/Getty Images)
In riot-torn Kenosha, Wisconsin, President Donald Trump met with local law enforcement officials Tuesday and promised to help stricken residents rebuild their lives. One would hope that those across the political aisle would respond by joining in a bipartisan effort to heal and rebuild. But that’s not what happened.
The opportunity was there. After months of downplaying the damage and danger of riots playing out in cities across America, the progressive mainstream over the weekend flipped their script. Suddenly, they announced, they are horrified by the violence; they want it to stop, and they want you to know that it’s all Trump’s fault.
That was exactly the wrong response. Public safety is not a plaything for politics. Left and right ought to be working together to make our streets safe. Ignoring or excusing violence for over three months is highly problematic. Such willful blindness or abetting behavior normalizes violence. In this case, “Silence is violence.” Silence was a wink and a nod conveying the message that rioting, looting, arson, extortion, smashing windows, destroying businesses, and injuring police and others are OK. But they are not.
To make matters worse, the Left delivered more than the sounds of silence. There were celebrity endorsements, professional sports boycotts, and tons of corporate donations that had more to do with easy virtue-signaling than promoting justice and respect for all. Absent was any denunciation of the flames consuming block after block of family-owned businesses, or the beatings of innocent bystanders.
Now, however, pollsters report that more and more Americans are disgusted with the violence, leaving leaders on the left less inclined to cheerlead for more unrest in the streets. Moreover, those on the Left have witnessed the mob turn on some of their own. For example, having established the most permissive environment in the nation for rioting, Portland, Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler was rewarded by an effort to burn the condo building where he lives.
Reeling from these developments, the Left refuses to look in the mirror. Instead, progressives have fallen back on their default explanation for why any and every bad thing happens: Blame Trump. In this case, that’s like the arsonist blaming the fire department for the fire. But what makes it truly sad is that it accomplishes nothing. To address the organized criminal violence destroying our neighborhoods, it’s vital that local, state, and federal officials work together. That requires bipartisan cooperation, not partisan finger-pointing.
Unfortunately, Trump can’t wait for the Left to come to its senses. As president, he has to act. But he can’t just step in and take over. For one thing, it’s impractical. Add up every law enforcement officer in the federal workforce, and it’s not much more than the size of the New York City Police Department. Moreover, many of these federal law enforcement officers have day jobs. They can’t just run off to Seattle and Portland. The federal government was never meant to police a city. That’s why we have local police. Then there is the National Guard. The guard is good for, well, guarding stuff and providing support to civilian authorities, but is not equipped to police cities. Members of the Guard also have day jobs. For example, they’re needed to help communities deal with hurricane season. They also have to train and support operational missions for the Defense Department. In short, the federal government can partner with, but it can’t police, our cities.
One area where the federal government can step up and show leadership is to investigate and expose the behind-the-scenes people who are organizing and financing criminal activity in the disturbances in cities around the country. Organizing criminal activity is itself a serious federal offense. The Trump administration recently announced a joint federal investigation is now underway. That is needed. The government should investigate and arrest those crossing state lines to riot or incite rioting, as well as the leaders of enterprises that organize and fund rioting activity.
Fifty years ago, Congress passed the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act to eradicate organized crime. The Justice Department should consider pursuing prosecutions of the rioters’ strategists, ringleaders, and funders under RICO. To restore peace to our streets, we need to cut off the head of the rioting beast.

#3126 (9/2) "You Can Oppose Abortion And Defend Life. You Must."

"YOU CAN OPPOSE ABORTION AND DEFEND LIFE. YOU MUST." - John Stonestreet, Breakpoint.org, 08/31/20; https://www.breakpoint.org/you-can-oppose-abortion-and-defend-life-you-must/

Last Wednesday, during a new segment on the BreakPoint Podcast in which Shane Morris and I field questions from listeners, we tackled the following question / lecture: “If abortion is so evil then why does God abort millions of fertilized eggs every day? With you folks, almost everything is black and white. No nuance. If a Fetus has deformities to prevent it from living a few hours after birth, then why put the mother through this trauma?”

Questions like this, especially in light of the incredibly strategic cultural moment we are in right now when it comes to defending innocent preborn life, is why we called an audible for the next Colson Center Short Course. Four Tuesday nights in a row, beginning September 8, you can be trained to be a pro-life advocate by the best. The course is called “Champion Life: How to Oppose Abortion and Defend the Unborn,” by Scott Klusendorf of the Life Training Institute, you will leave each week’s teaching prepared to do just what the subtitle says: oppose abortion and defend the unborn. In fact, the first week’s class will enable you to navigate conversations we often find ourselves in, not dissimilar to what Shane and I heard from our listener: A flurry of questions mixed with an accusation or two. We have to start by defining exactly what abortion is.
My friend Greg Koukl often will use the following helpful scenario to do just that: Imagine your 10-year-old son walks up behind you, and asks, “Hey, Mom! Hey, Dad! Can I kill this?” Every parent knows that the only right response is a question: “What is this?” If it’s a cockroach, sure. If he’s holding his little brother by the neck, he’s going to need counseling.

Medical science, embryology, and technologies like ultrasound have settled, beyond a doubt, that abortion takes a human life. Neither a male sperm cell nor a female egg cell are human beings, but once they unite, there is a different kind of entity: a distinct human life.

From this starting point, we can tackle our listener’s first question: Why is abortion wrong when embryos naturally die by miscarriage every day? The answer is found by applying the same rules to these preborn humans as we would to humans outside the womb. Millions of people die every day, so why should we be so against murder?
The difference between millions of people dying every day by natural causes and those who die by murder is intent. It is wrong to take an innocent human life… any innocent human life. Fertilized eggs, embryos, fetuses, newborns, teenagers, and adults are all human beings. Assuming that different rules apply as long as the human is in utero is a category mistake.

On this same foundation, we can address the question of fetuses with life-threatening diseases or deformities. Suppose Grandpa is found to have a terminal illness and will die in weeks. He’s suffering and his medical expenses will place enormous financial burdens on his family. Should we kill him? Should we, as in the case of abortion, kill him without his consent?
Of course not. Why? Because it is always wrong to intentionally kill an innocent human being.

Of course, when pro-abortion advocates offer this scenario, it’s often a red herring, a distraction that’s offered as an argument. Consider that about 70 percent of American children diagnosed before birth with the non-life-threatening condition Down Syndrome are killed in the womb. Even if we were to grant that it’s OK to abort babies in rare cases where deformities are life threatening (and I won’t grant that), would our listener be for protecting those babies with non-life threatening deformities?

Or consider those who argue abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and incest. Again, it is wrong to take any innocent human life, but the vast majority of babies are not conceived this way. The extremely rare exceptions of rape, incest, and life-threatening deformities have nothing to do with taking the life of babies that are simply not wanted.

We shouldn’t be stumped by these kinds of questions. We must know how to define terms, how to ask the right questions back, and how to identify category errors. This is why the upcoming short course is so very important. Every Christian needs to be prepared to oppose abortion and defend the preborn.

If Roe v. Wade were to be overturned at the Supreme Court, the legal battle for life would shift to the states. So, I repeat, every Christian needs to be equipped to oppose abortion and defend the unborn. Please, sign up for our Champion Life Short Course at BreakPoint.org. And again, it starts Tuesday, September 8.
If you can’t join us on a particular week, we record each session, so you won’t miss a thing. Week 1 we will teach you how to defend life in one minute or less. Week 2 we will talk about the wrong ways to talk about abortion. Week 3 we will equip you to answer the common pro-abortion arguments. And week 4, we will enable you to launch a plan to join the pro-life movement.

Oh, and don’t forget to listen to our weekly question and answer session each week on the BreakPoint Podcast. You can listen in wherever you get your podcasts.

STANDING STRONG THROUGH THE STORM - OpenDoorsUSA.org
At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.- 2 Tim. 4:16
SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THOSE WHO SUFFER
The Apostle Paul knew exactly what it was like to be alone, to be deserted by all who called themselves “brothers” and “sisters.” A former colleague who has done considerable travel among the persecuted says, “It is hard to believe that Christians are the largest persecuted group in the world today. But it is even more difficult to believe that this is so seldom mentioned in our gatherings and church services. More Christians know the names of their favorite actors than their fellow believers who are in prison.”
He continues, “With every trip something in my heart breaks as I hear the echoes of suffering:
I remember the echoes of an Egyptian mother as she shared how her young boy was stuck in a haystack because she refused to deny Jesus.
I remember the sounds of weeping as fellow students in Indonesia shared how Sariman, their co-student, was hacked to death.
I remember the cries of anguish as we walked from church to church that was burned to the ground on the island of Lombok.
I remember the tears of Rebecca in Iran as she showed the picture of her father who was stabbed to death for sharing the gospel.
I remember the voice of Pastor Daniel in Vietnam as he shared how he was chained to the ground for six months.
I remember the fear of Grace from Sudan as she shared how her church was attacked and her friend was shot through the head.
Oh, I remember the cries of Caleb in Eritrea as he shared with tears how two dear friends were executed in front of him because of their faith.
And I remember the tears of Joy in the southern Philippines as she shared how her fiancé was shot to death in their church in Mindanao.
But, most all, I remember the deafening sounds of silence every time I return home.
RESPONSE
How can I be silent today? How can I not speak on behalf of those who suffer? How can I desert those that belong to the same body that I belong to and who desperately need the encouragement of my intervention?

On June 23, 2018, Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters told a crowd of her supporters that it was time to attack Trump supporters in the streets. “You think we’re rallying now? You ain’t seen nothing yet,” she screamed. “Already you have members of your Cabinet that are being booed out of restaurants ... protesters taking up at their house saying ‘no peace, no sleep.’” “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she continued.

Since the moment President Trump won the White House in November 2016, Democrats have deployed violent tactics, subverting a traditional peaceful transfer of power in an effort to intimate Americans.
The day of President Trump’s inauguration, violent protestors formed human chains in order to block attendees from getting into the event on the National Mall. Cabinet officials, Republican lawmakers and White House staffers were harassed in public.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was accosted outside a local Kentucky restaurant. Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant. Former DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was chased out of dinner by angry activists.
On June 14, 2017, Bernie Sanders supporter James Hodgkinson opened fire on a baseball field, hoping to kill as many Republicans practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game. House Whip Steve Scalise was shot and nearly died.

And now, as the next election inches closer, Biden supporters have upped the ante with violent riots in cities across the country and targeted harassment of Americans. Just last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called President Trump, Republicans and their supporters “enemies of the state.” Democratic Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, a member of the socialist “squad,” called for “organizing” and “unrest in the streets.” In June, Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris said protesters “should not let up” and proclaimed, “everyone beware, they’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop before election day in November and they’re not going to stop after election day. Everyone should take note of that on both levels. They’re not going to let up.” During the DNC convention and despite promising to “burn the country down,” Black Lives Matter was upheld as a valid and worthwhile movement.

Fast forward to RNC convention week 2020. After President Trump concluded his speech at the RNC convention, which was held at the White House, supporters were assaulted and violently harassed as they attempted to get back to their cars and hotel rooms.Video shows a Black Lives Matter mob following a couple to a parking garage while screaming in their faces. Additional footage shows a young man jumping toward an elderly couple, screaming at them and flipping them off. Screams of “f*ck you” can be heard repeatedly.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul was violently attacked and says he believes he may have died if police officers weren’t escorting them down the street. “I'm not sure we would have made it. They were attempting to push the police over to get to me...you've seen the pictures of what they do to you. If the police are not there, if you defund the police, if we become Portland, if America becomes Portland, what's going to happen is people are going to be pummeled and kicked in the head and left senseless on the curb. That would have happened to us I promise you, had we not had the D.C. police to support us...Thank God for the police. Had we not gotten to the police, I truly believe that the police saved our lives and we would not be here today or we would be in a hospital today if the police had not been there,” Paul said during an interview with Fox News after the incident.

The motive of the Left’s defund the police movement has never been more clear. They want to defund the police so they can get to those they disagree with politically. The police stand between them and the people they want to physically attack, injure and kill. The Left has been promoting and encouraging mob violence for years. They own this and Americans should take note of their deliberately harmful behavior toward their fellow citizens.
