PLEASE PRAY: "Libya Arrests Suspected Christian Missionaries ," February 16, 2013"Four foreigners were arrested in Libya on suspicion of distributing books about Christianity and proselytizing, a Libyan police spokesman said on Saturday. Spreading Christianity is a crime in the predominantly Muslim North African county. The four were arrested in the eastern city of Benghazi on Tuesday and are under investigation for printing and distributing books that proselytize Christianity. Police said they found 45,000 books in their possession and that another 25,000 have already been distributed. The suspects are from South Africa, Egypt, South Korea, and one holds both Swedish and U.S. Nationality. The U.S. Embassy in Libya has declined comment. "(Sources: CBS News, USA Today, Associated Press) [So much for the so-called "Arab Spring." - Stan]

As the Lord leads, PLEASE PRAY:
  • For the timely release of the arrested missionaries.
  • For all who share God’s loving salvation in Muslim countries.

DECLARE YOUR SUPPORT FOR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE. Please SIGN THE PETITION BELOW to declare your support for the traditional definition of marriage and in support of an amicus brief to go to the Supreme Court as it considers the redefinition of marriage on March 26th. Their decision on whether to uphold the Definition of Marriage Act passed by Congress in 1996 could be as piviotal to marriage in America as Roe v. Wade was to the definition of the sancity of human life in America. MOST IMPORTANTLY, please keep the upcoming Supreme Court review of this case and their final decision in your PRAYERS.

Commentary by Dr. D. James Kennedy

I think it’s important to look around once in a while and find out what’s going on. For example, look at what is being taught to our children. If there is one thing that is being taught to our children from kindergarten through graduate school, it’s tolerance! From history to literature to mathematics, the children are learning tolerance.

You say, “Well, that’s wonderful. We’re all in favor of tolerance.” Yes, but tolerance, as it was originally defined, means we are willing to bear with those whose views or lifestyles are different from ours without agreeing with them. And every Christian should be tolerant in the correct and historical meaning of that word. It’s what the Bible means in 1 Corinthians 13, which says love “bears all things.”

But that’s not what’s being taught in our schools. What’s being taught is the “new tolerance,” and it’s vitally important that we understand what that is.
The new tolerance means this: Not only do you put up with, endure, and bear with those who have different views, habits, and/or lifestyles than your own, but you agree with their views. Furthermore, you hold that their views are equally as valid and as true as your views—and that their lifestyle is equally as true and as valid as your own. And you must be willing to promote and endorse that other lifestyle, since it is every bit as good as yours.

All of this begins with the idea that there is no absolute truth. Everything is relative; therefore, one kind of lifestyle is as good as another kind of lifestyle.

Furthermore, there is a concept of “feeling” that is involved. The Modernist said, “Faith has failed. We must be rational.” Post-Modernism says, “Rationalism has failed. We must resort to feeling.” We even have a new civil right that my feelings are not to be hurt. A high school girl sued when a song was sung that had some religious words in it, and her feelings were hurt. The courts moved into action: “We cannot have anybody’s feelings hurt.”

Another part of Post-Modernism is the “Universal Individual.” We don’t have countries. There is no human race. There is just the individual and his feelings, and they must not be offended.

“I have repeatedly said that tolerance is the last virtue of a depraved society.  When you have an immoral society that has blatantly, proudly violated all of the commandments of God, there is one last virtue they insist upon … tolerance for their immorality. And they will not have you condemning what they do as being wrong. They are no longer the evil person—you are. So they call evil good and good evil—and that’s just the beginning.”
Christianity is the most loving religion in the world. God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son. Jesus Christ gave His life. God gives to us eternal life. God forgives us, and He urges us to love others—even our enemies. But Christianity is also an absolute religion. Christ says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6 nkjv).

It is Christianity against which all of this is aimed. I urge you to be faithful to the Great Commission of sharing the Gospel with a needy world. It’s time that we stood up for Jesus Christ and showed some backbone, while we still have a place to stand.
