#3006 (4/22) FAMILY EMERGENCY! / Continued Prayer Requested! [Also special blog notice]

4/1 UPDATE: In the past few weeks AFTER the Walk for Life itself, I had encouraged people to consider giving towards my faith goal or $900 to match the totals of the past few years. With people focused on the ongoing health pandemic, I came to believe that I would not get any closer to that goal. Then yesterday, I was blown away by a surprise email from a good friend in JAPAN who receives my blog alerts. She shared that she and her husband wanted to give $100 towards that goal! Wow! What an encouragement! The total I’ve seen God raised NOW stands unofficially at $816.  As I told her, I don’t know how much longer my (above) fund raising page would still be up. And so, I advised her and you - if God leads YOU to give,  please send a check made out to “Thrive Orlando” to the following address:: Thrive OrlandoP.O. Box 677188Orlando, Fl 32817  Also, BE SURE to write on the check that it is for “Stan Yonashiro’s effort with TOWalk for Life.  THANK YOU!

FAMILY EMERGENCY! / Continued Prayer Requested! - from Stan, 4/22/2020
[NOTE: As great as that is, of course, NOTHING compares to the infinite love of God shown in Christ Jesus! I didn't like the quote but I loved the picture and didn't have time to find a better one. I do wish there had been a way to include the picture and not the quote. - Stan]

Introduction: The following are entries that I've posted the past week on my FaceBook pag
e. They start with my celebrating my cat Purrty's 14th birthday last Wed, April 15, and chronicles the sudden change in her the following day. I can't emphasize enough that Purrty is not just my pet cat; he is my best friend, companion, and like my little girl. [Unfortunately I don't have a picture of her at this time to post with this but she is all black with a white belly. As soon as I get a picture, I look forward to sharing it with you.] As of this post she is doing much better but I would REALLY appreciate your continued prayers. THANK YOU!]

4/15: TODAY is my precious cat Purrty's 14th birthday. I've been blessed to have her over 13 of
those years and truly THANK GOD of His gift of her to me. Happy Birthday, Purrty!

4/19:FAMILY EMERGENCY: Please pray for Purrty! - If you've ever lived alone for any length of time and your sole companion was a pet God gifted you with, you might understand why I consider my cat PURRTY my family.

Basically, the day after she turned 14 last Wed, she suddenly stopped eating and drinking from her water dish. At first I thought it was just a phase she was having esp. after she ate some food that i gave her on Sat. I called a vet anyway and she advised I take Purrty to an emergency vet hospital nearby. I decided to wait till today to see if she might start drinkning water and sure enough this morning she did drink from a water bowl after not having drunk any water for several days. Back to normal I thought. But then I looked at her lying lethargically and something (or Someone) just said "Something is definitely wrong" and so I packed her in the car and went to the vet hospital. After waiting nearly 3 hours to see a technician. After another hour the vet came in to tell me that blood tests showed that Purrty is severely anemic and needs a blood transfusion. She was administered that sometime since I left her around 5 to go to work. By 7 am tomorrow (Mon.) morning, I am to pick her up and take her to a vet specialist on the north side of town,
PLEASE PRAY that the transfusion helped her significantly AND that the specialist I am seeing will be able to determine the best treatment for her. I will continue to fast and pray for her until I know what God's will is (kind of like what David did in 2 Sam 12:15 when he learned his son with Bathsheba was suddenly very ill) I appreciate your joining me in praying for my precious friend Purrty. I will post an update as soon as I know more. THANK YOU!!! (As Jesus said to His/our Father at Gethsemane "THY WILL be done"; Amen!)

4/20: UPDATE ON PURRTY: Praise God she's resp;onded well to the blood transfusion and other care that she received at the hospital last night. Praise God also that when I went to pick her up at 630 am to take her to see a specialist, the emergency hospital said that they finally determined that, though Purrty is a strictly indoor cat, she's been suffering from flea bites; go figure! PLEASE PRAY that the further checking they will do today will confirm that it is a treatable problem and not more complicated. P.S. - It was especially hard last night at work as I found myself becoming emotional thinking that her body might reject the transfusion and that I could lose her. She looked so much more normal this morning I can but hope. THANK YOU AGAIN for your continued prayers! Will keep you posted.

4/21: UPDATE ON PURRY - 4/21: What a day! Praise God my first day off since this all started allowed me to stay at home with Purrty staying close to me on my bed. Special! I was so encouraged that throughout the day she had eaten food and drank water several times.(Yes, I have her food and water dish sitting ON my bed!) She even went to the litter box for the first time in 5 days but only peed twice; please pray that whatever is preventing her from pooping will somehow be removed. Whether reading my Bible or engaging in my usual time of intercession on my days off, I made sure to do it while stroking and huggging her often. I was also pleased when not napping she stretched out twice to groom herself! ANYWAY, tomorrow (4/22) morning I take her to the vet at 7:30 for a follow-up appointment. After returning home, I plan to do my usual blog posting, then dash off to Home Depot to pick up the needed supplies, then return home to prepare if to flea bomb the entire interior Thursday morning. PLEASE PRAY that it will get rid of whatever flea eggs are in the house and give her a safe environment to recover in. (I daily give give her a flea medication.) PRAY that my strength holds up as it will be an intense day. I['m hoping to still have time to do some of the 3 hours of intercessioin I usually do on Wednesdays. . When you love another, you do everything you can with all the strength you have. I want to honor God's gift of Purrty to me. May HE choose to bless me by helping my special friend to recover fully. *** I Sam 12:30a.

4/22 (TODAY) The vet gave a blood test and said that Purrty is progressing well in her body producing more red blood cells. Also she has been gaining some weight she recently lost.  (No need to go to a specialist, who could have ordered some expensive tests and treatments. Though I would be willing to get her whatever help she needs, her care has already cost almost 2 months of income from my job. I'm grateful to be spared at this time any further major expenses. P.S. - I just returned from the store to get the flea foggers and flea comb. When I checked her litter box, there was a nice piece of poop laying on top of the litter! (Yes, she's never got the hang of coveing her poop.) Yeah! PLEASE KEEP PRAYING; THANK YOU!

PRAYER MATTERS:

"To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against
the disorder of the world Karl Barth
"Prayer is inviting God into a seemingly impossible situation and trusting/resting in His love and grace to accomplish His perfect will in His perfect time and for His greatest glory. Intercession is  one of the great privileges AND responsibilities for EVERY believer."- Stan

In Myanmar, converting from Buddhism to follow Jesus can carry a hefty price. When he first started preaching in a Buddhist village, Saya Thun*, a missionary, was beaten up and his family was threatened. And yet, he persevered. Khin Htay’s* husband set her on fire when she refused to make offerings to the gods. Thankfully, Saya Thun and his wife took care of her after she left the hospital.Simon*, a missionary in a Buddhist township, was denied his request
to dig a well for the Christian orphanage he serves.
April 22 - Pray for God’s provision for Simon and the orphans he helps care for.
