U.S. Supreme Court has Reconvened: Let's be praying WHENEVER the Court is in session as their decisions can have impact on GENERATIONS to come. The fact that they may have an opportunity this session to actually vote on same-sex "marriage" where it has the same impact on this country that Roe v. Wade did should be motivating enough!
Of course, let's CONTINUE PRAYING FOR AN END TO THE EBOLA CRISIS IN WEST AFRICA AND THE HEALING OF ALL THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN INFECTED.
PRAY FOR AMERICA: THANK GOD for His many blessings on America throughout it's history. May we then ask that AMERICA once again be a blessing TO GOD, by once again submitting to HIS will in our affairs - both personal and national - that He may truly "heal our land." (2 Chron. 7:14)
NOW THAT THE ELECTION IS OVER:1) Let's be praying that God showed us grace in giving us representatives who will sincerely work to DO NO HARM to us and future generations. Let's also be praying that should He have chosen to give us those who WILL do us harm, that He extends mercy to us now and for the years ahead. His will is now done as far as the results we have. Now it's up to us to be diligent to hold those elected accountable!, and 2) Let's be praying that the present lame-duck session in Congress will not be allowed to pass legislation that will do harm to our country as they can easily do. William and Kate's Great Britain: Spiritually Speaking - December 11, 2014, from the book "Operation World" (2010), pp. 852-858 - presented by Stan M. Yonashiro
Between this past Sunday and Tuesday, New York (America) was "invaded" by a visit from the British royal couple. It seems that every news broadcast made some mention of the details of their visit, with the popular couple presenting a very upbeat and positive view of their country. It just happens, though, that this year I have been making my way through an exhaustive prayer handbook of more than 900 pages entitled "Operation World." It provides information about the geography, people groups, economic, and political history of every governmental unit in the world, and in particular notes the spiritual condition of each such unit and invites prayer. Among the items I "just happened" to come across the other day concerning the United Kingdom (taken from pages 852-858) were the following bits of information. (Though this book was published in 2010, I have to little reason to believe it doesn't continue to describe William and Kate's nation.)
P.S. - In particular, consider point #6 below and ask yourself whether it doesn't also describe the United States today.
1.The sense that all is not well pervades the
country. “Broken Britain” is the catchphrase of the tabloid news. The
‘freedoms” of the 1960s led social disaster and hastened spiritual decline.
Many are discouraged about the future and cynical about the seeming impotence
of politicians to deal with the malaise; this trait is exacerbated by the
media. Violent crime, alcohol and drug abuse, sexually transmitted diseases,
immorality, prostitution, illegitimacy and abortion rates, gambling addiction
and personal debt levels are not jut
alarmingly high, but in some cases are tacitly encouraged by misled government
policies. Conservatives point to the breakdown of the family and traditional
morality as primary causes. The simultaneous decline of Christian values in society
over this same period is hardly a
coincidence. Without a radical change, disaster looms. Pray for national repentance and
restoration to the spiritual vigor that once made Britain’s Christians a
blessing to the world. Many Christians are praying for revival.”
2. A
core identity and purpose for Britain. Without a cultural center or
core set of values around which to build a multi-cultural society,
disintegration and division will triumph. Pray for Britain to regain a sense of what
makes it Britain; pray that these values would celebrate and reflect what
God rejoices in.
3. Multicultural
pluralism has replaced Judeo-Christian tradition as the foundation of
society. Minority religions, particularly Islam, receive notable
attention and government support-in education, legislation, and freedoms –
yet they still feel discriminated against. Astrology, New Age, the occult
and old-world paganism (Druid/Wicca) are popular, wit a massive increase
of literature and websites promoting their ends. The UK itself is now a
mission field. Praise
God for religious freedom; pray for it to be retained; pray that it does
not prompt further turning against, or away from, the Christian faith that
shaped the UK so profoundly for the better.
4. A
national awakening is needed. There has been one in virtually every
century of the last 800 years – the last
ws in 1859-69. The steep decline in organized Christianity I the UK
is almost unparalleled in Europe – especially among Methodists, Anglicans United
Reformed, Brethren, and other Protestant denominations. Pray that Christians might
grow passionate for God’s honor, burdened to pray for revival and free
from deadening negativism and
materialism that pervades the churches.
5. [The United Kingdom is made up of essentially 4
countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.] England’s inner
cities are in threat of becoming physical and spiritual wastelands, riddled
with drugs and crime. Dying congregations, closed churches, and
churches converted into Muslim mosques, Hindu temples or Sikh gurdwaras
are commonplace. Most white evangelicals moved to comfortable, middle-class
suburbs and towns a generation ago. Whites trapped in inner city poverty and
joblessness usually have fewer prospects than even their entire ethnic-minority
neighbors. Pray that
God may raise up an army of workers with effective ways of meting the many needs
of these impoverished and often troubled areas.
