"HOLOCAUST REMEMBERANCE DAY, WE MUST CONFRONT TODAY'S ANTI-SEMITISM"- Chris Gacek / Arielle Del Turco / @arielledelturco / January 27, 2021; https://www.dailysignal.com/2021/01/27/on-holocaust-remembrance-day-we-must-confront-todays-anti-semitism/ [AS I SEE IT: I wonder if it would not be appropriate for America to recognize January 22nd, the anniversary of the infamous Roe V. Wade SC decison, as America's "Holocaust Remberance Day." It would be a way to honor the 60 plus million unborn (and soon born!) who have been slaughtered through abortion. - Stan]
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, it’s important to reflect on the horrific persecution of the Jewish people by Nazi Germany, and to be aware of the rise in anti-Semitism occurring around the world today. Pictured: The main gate of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. (Photo: Damian Klamka/SOPA Images/LightRocket/Getty Images)
On this day [Jan. 27th] 76 years ago, Soviet troops liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp, where Nazi forces murdered more than 1.1 million people, the vast majority of them Jews. Greeted by starving prisoners rejoicing at their arrival, piles of corpses, and unthinkable living conditions, the unknowing Soviet troops were horrified by what they saw.
As more became known about the Nazi’s extermination program, Auschwitz came to represent what may be the greatest anti-human crime in history: the systematic effort to destroy the Jewish people wherever they could be found on the globe. Accordingly, Jan. 27 is commemorated as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This commemoration is about that crime against one people in a specific place and time—the Jews who fell under Nazi control before May 10, 1945.
As we recall the relentless Nazi effort to destroy the Jewish people, it is imperative that we also not overlook the current resurgence of Jew-hatred around the globe. The anxiety and social strain of the current pandemic has served as an occasion for some to deploy modernized themes of ancient Jew-hatred. Abhorrent conspiracy theories simmered online, especially in Europe, during the pandemic. Hate-filled comments accused Jews of creating and spreading COVID-19 or, alternatively, asserting that the virus was simply a “hoax” concocted by Jews. Such absurd competing accusations demonstrate how anti-Semitism often manifests itself in expressions of irrational sentiment and bigotry.
Hatred toward Jews does not merely fester secretly online. In many Western countries, it thrives out in the open under the socially acceptable rubric of “anti-Zionism.” By claiming that the only-Jewish state is inherently racist, akin to the South African apartheid regime, anti-Zionism denies the Jewish people their right to self-determination in a state and land of their own. Anti-Zionism is particularly active on American university campuses, where the “Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions” movement singles out Israel for economic punishment.
According to U.N. Watch, Israel has received 112 condemnatory resolutions from the U.N. General Assembly since 2015, many times more that notorious human rights abusers like North Korea, Myanmar, and Syria over that span of time. This widely disproportionate targeting of the Jewish state indicates a prevalent anti-Jewish sentiment among world leaders. In its annual report in 2020, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom expressed serious concern over the rise of anti-Semitism in the world, especially in Europe. It cited the examples of a 27% increase in anti-Semitic acts in France in 2019, a 7% increase in anti-Semitic incidents in the United Kingdom in 2019, and a pattern of anti-Semitic bullying in Sweden.
As the situation has grown more perilous for Jews in Europe, a 2019 survey found that 41% of young Jewish Europeans have considered emigrating from their native lands out of concern for their safety. Many Jews are now making plans to leave for Israel as many European governments have lost control of the situation, with anti-Semitism becoming more widespread and violent. This reality would have been unimaginable 20 years ago. In the Middle East, animus towards Jews runs hot and is ubiquitous. Iran stands apart as a country that espouses and promulgates the most vicious Jew-hatred. It continues to be the only government in the world that denies the Holocaust as a matter of state policy.
Former U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Elan Carr has called Iran the “world’s chief trafficker in anti-Semitism.” Justifying its aggressive foreign policy of denying Israel’s right to exist, Iranian leaders spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories while referring to Israel as a “cancerous tumor.”
Even the United States has seen the emergence of anti-Semitism. On college campuses, the political left and venomous anti=Semitic organizations like Students for Justice in Palestine have come to dominate the political debate. There the anti-Semitism is masked, as it is in many places, as anti-Zionism, but that covering is only a thin veneer.
There is also a violent strand of American Jew-hatred that has its roots in the political fringe-right. Recent attacks at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and the Chabad synagogue in Poway, California, have born this out. Simultaneously, those acts of murder disabused Americans of any notion that Jewish houses of worship were safe in the United States.
Unfortunately, studies show declining knowledge about the Holocaust among younger Americans. One survey found that that 63% of American millennials and Generation Z did not know that 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust, and over half of those thought the death toll was fewer than 2 million. Another article tells us that two-thirds of millennials do not know what Auschwitz stands for and what took place there. Many cannot place the Holocaust within the framework of World War II. This is a disastrous place for our nation to be.
On this day, we commemorate the millions of innocent Jews who were cruelly imprisoned, tortured, and murdered on an industrial scale. Remembrance must also incorporate a commitment that such evil must “never again” take place. Jews know that this hatred has manifested itself against them in many places over millennia. Whether it be in Queen Esther’s biblical Persia, Judea’s destruction by the Romans, or 15th century Spain—this is a recurring evil that knows no parallel human history.
Therefore, it is necessary that we set aside this day each year to remember the Holocaust. We must use this annual occasion to recommit ourselves to protect the Jewish people as fellow human beings. But they must also be defended as a persecuted minority that stands for a set of unique religious and cultural beliefs that make them distinct. Tyrants, like Hitler, have raged that Jews answer to a higher authority and will not yield. On this point, we must stand with the Jews every day of the year

“INTERCESSORS ARE THE RUDDER” – A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT - Wanda Alger, June 28th, 2017; https://www.getamericapraying.com/blog/I was recently given a word by my good friend, Bill Yount. His word greatly encouraged me as an intercessor. Working for Intercessors for America, I soon realized it was not just a word for me, but for all who have been praying for our nation, wondering if their prayers are truly making any difference. Bill told me, “I kept seeing you as a small rudder on a huge ship. Hidden, but giving guidance. Although it seemed slow it was turning the whole ship. Patience was needed to see the impact of your…ministry. I sense the Lord saying, ‘Don’t jump ship! I’ve made you the rudder!’ ” I was immediately touched in my spirit by this encouragement, knowing that our seemingly small place in prayer was having a great impact.
James 3:4 talks about the power of a small rudder to steer a large ship. In this scripture about the power of our tongue, consider the power of prophetic intercession! In the Forerunner Commentary on this verse we read, “…rudders manipulate the course of immense ocean vessels with a slight movement of a pilot’s hand. Since it is underwater and aft, the rudder of a ship does its work UNSEEN. A passenger is ignorant of its movements most of the time. Yet, when it is in proper working order, the rudder holds more power over the ship than the wind. The wind will blow, toss, even destroy the ship’s rigging, but the rudder guides the ship exactly where it directs.”
This is God’s promise to the intercessors in this hour of national turbulence. Don’t stop praying! Your prayers have great power to turn the ship! Continue praying, interceding, and discerning the workings and movements of the Holy Spirit, being faithful to God’s commands. As we come together to declare God’s faithfulness, this nation will, once again, head in the direction that God intends. Don’t give up and don’t give in. Regardless of the winds of adversity and the fires of the enemy, God’s people have a power that cannot be matched. Let us join in faith and continue to pray and speak of God’s faithfulness in order to bring God’s people and this nation into the fullness of God’s plans. Note this additional encouragement from God’s word:
Colossians 2:15 – “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him” (ESV).
Psalm 33:8-11 – “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”

PRAY FOR AMERICA: THANK GOD for His many blessings on America throughout it's history. May we then ask that AMERICA once again be a blessing TO GOD, by once again submitting to HIS will in our affairs - both personal and national - that He may truly "heal our land." (2 Chron. 7:14) Short of that, we should not be saying "God Bless America"but instead "God be merciful towards America!"
PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS: 1) Pray for President Trump and his advisers, that they would select Godly leaders at the federal level who will be accountable to do an excellent job (or be fired!) ; that he would seek God's wisdom and be enabled to lead our country effectively in the years ahead; and 2) Pray our leaders at every level of government will Spirit-filled, leading us with Godly wisdom and integrity; that they will only pass legislation and enact policies that will benefit Americans today as well as future generations and NOT do any lasting harm.
SUPREME COURT: PRAY that the justices will only hand down decisions that are Constitutionally sound and in the best interests of our country now and for future generations.
World-Wide Prayer Requests:
PRAISE GOD for the continuing recent successes against ISIS!

STANDING STRONG THROUGH THE STORM - OpenDoorsUSA.org At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.- 2 Tim. 4:16
SPEAK ON BEHALF OF THOSE WHO SUFFER
The Apostle Paul knew exactly what it was like to be alone, to be deserted by all who called themselves “brothers” and “sisters.” A former colleague who has done considerable travel among the persecuted says, “It is hard to believe that Christians are the largest persecuted group in the world today. But it is even more difficult to believe that this is so seldom mentioned in our gatherings and church services. More Christians know the names of their favorite actors than their fellow believers who are in prison.”
He continues, “With every trip something in my heart breaks as I hear the echoes of suffering:
I remember the echoes of an Egyptian mother as she shared how her young boy was stuck in a haystack because she refused to deny Jesus.
I remember the sounds of weeping as fellow students in Indonesia shared how Sariman, their co-student, was hacked to death.
I remember the cries of anguish as we walked from church to church that was burned to the ground on the island of Lombok.
I remember the tears of Rebecca in Iran as she showed the picture of her father who was stabbed to death for sharing the gospel.
I remember the voice of Pastor Daniel in Vietnam as he shared how he was chained to the ground for six months.
I remember the fear of Grace from Sudan as she shared how her church was attacked and her friend was shot through the head.
Oh, I remember the cries of Caleb in Eritrea as he shared with tears how two dear friends were executed in front of him because of their faith.
And I remember the tears of Joy in the southern Philippines as she shared how her fiancé was shot to death in their church in Mindanao.
But, most all, I remember the deafening sounds of silence every time I return home.
RESPONSE
How can I be silent today? How can I not speak on behalf of those who suffer? How can I desert those that belong to the same body that I belong to and who desperately need the encouragement of my intervention?
